No Noel, No Oasis?

‘TIS A sad day for Oasis fans: Noel Gallagher has quit Oasis.

According to their official website, the guitarist and co-founder left the Mancunian band because helove”simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer”.

This is probably the biggest split announcement sincelovePaul McCartney announcing that he’d quit The Beatles in 1970, due to “musical differences”. And we all know how that turned out, didn’t we?

Even as fans are reeling from shock (everybody expected Liam to quit – yet again), the big question is: Will Oasis break up because their guitarist and songwriter is gone?

Well, let’s just say I’m not holding my breath for the band to carry on much longer. loveWhenever main songwriters quit a band (like say, the dudes from Abba,lovePete Townshend of The Who, Sting and The Police, Richard Ashcroft and The Verve), that musical entity tends to sputter out and die an ignoble death.

We’ll see whether this is like the time Liam walked out on the band while touring the US. Noel didloveadd: “Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”

Does that mean he’ll consider rejoining the band after those dates? Who knows? Until then… watch this space.

Oasis without Noel is as good as no Oasis. Noel pratically gives Oasis' songs life. Heck, he wrote most of them. And he's way better than *coughs* Liam's songs

That's the end of Oasis unfortunately, another great band has disbanded and many more crappy bands are rising, damn. Noel's songwriting was what made Oasis special and without him, the likes of Liam, Gem Archer and Andy Bell simply cannot create the same music Noel created.

Liam can't even write proper songs! Look at all the hits. All belonged to Noel. Heck, even earlier albums were much better cause Noel CAN write a hit song

Those 2 (Liam & Noel) have been at each other's throats' since day 1.

I guess the departure of either one of them was inevitable.

After 18 years, guess that Noel really had enough.
He has got really good patience and has been very tolerant towards Liam
all these years.

Maybe there would still be Oasis, but it just won't be the same. Those two, have always had a lovehate relationship, but when combined, they are unstoppable. Noel's brilliant songwriting, with Liam's iconic look, voice and stage presence.

Maybe they will reunite, who knows. Pete Doherty and Carl Barat already played their Libertines reunion show after years apart.

Looking forward to Noel's solo album.

how many times noel said he wanted to quit but he came back? lol. lots of times. hope he will come back! this year concert in sg was awesome!!
and besides watever solo he makes will still have that oasis sound. only dif it wont be leaning towards those rock kind of songs where he needs liam.

Haha. Noel and Liam can't stand each other. But they know that they NEED each other in order to succeed.

Still, after What's The Story (Morning Glory), I found that Oasis' work could never match up. They made pretty good songs, but nothing that could surpass Morning Glory or Definately Maybe
