Night life in Singapore

Ok guys, I need a night life, and I need names..

I was walking around Clark QUay yesterday night.. ok.. it wasn't that bad, but I certainly felt that there had to be better places around.

Firstly, I don't dig clubs... techno remixes were never my cup of tea. So the options are greatly reduced now 8) no zouk, mos and other famous clubbing areas in Singapore.

Thinking more of pubs and bars... which place would be:

(1) having live bands playing?
(2) relatively quiet (other than perhaps background music and the live bands playing)?
(3) good for socializing? As in the ppl are there for the same reason too.

So I'd appreciate your valuable info.. as in places, and more importantly, the BEST timing to be there.

Cheers to the night life in Singapore.

you all really should hear WAT DA FUNK , with Zul (damn his voice damn nice man), Alan (2nd vocalist), hamid (ex-black dog bone bassist), misran (drummer), salim (guitarist) and one keyboardist i forgot his name.

they play at thumper everyday.

+1 on the SouthBridge Jazz....amazing amazing jazz bar,

If you are more for a lil vocal jazz, catcha choromosome at Harry's Boat Quay

Harry's Orchard has some very good bands playing usually...

There is a bar near Southbridge called ACTORS....open stage...any band thats drinking there can come up and jam,if you find the right moment...its gold  (but dun be surprised if some guys hit on u  )...

Just goto Boat Quay when u got some cash ready man... :D

(ps.erdinger tap rocks)

actor's quite fun...i used to be a regular there..jamming all..my brother is there every week though...playing on stage....nice place to chill out,,,owner is a nice guy...but must beware of the Karaoke moments when some lady will wana sing "fly me to the moon" and the band bo pian have to play...

Also they close very late...

Im normally there on Fridays though...last time i mean...

Or you could check out JJ mahoney's at Duxton, Tanjung Pagar,,,,

TUes toSaturdays i think, band starts at 10 ish...HERITAGE.

Allman brother's , hendrix, the Who, Led ZEp, all well covered by this band that has been around for ages...

Heritage has a different line up now, VOcalist/harp/violinist-Adwel, guitarist-Robert(brilliant IMHO), Bassist-confidential, Drummer-Corey.

Word of advice, do not bring your Girlfriend there, that place quite sleazy after certain hours, hehe, if you know what i mean...

heya snuff...u frequent there a lot??i usually go there sometimes on fridays too...though havent been there for a few weeks now..broke as hell...the 'i got a gf syndrome' yup...its close to fatal....
Darn my luck, mix that with the 'I also got GAS syndrome(not the cheap one that goes away with charcoal tablets)...'and I am Roadkill...

hehe...any curious george stories to share??Like how you didnt know that the bar was also a meeting place for many gays...and then someone thinks you are gay and you dont realize it...and the next thing you know....you are painfuly avoiding questions from anyone in the room

one of the highlights of my evening ....

but yea jokes aside...its a wonderful place, and the booze is cchheeaappp....

ooh, ive been sharing the 2 syndromes as well...My Gf locks me up at home nowadays, which gives me time to surf online at home to build up lotsa GAS...

Actor's,VERY Fun, u must be talking about the MUSCULAR KEYBOARDIST rite?

HAHA

Actually he is a damn nice guy lah...and he's freakin' awesome on the Keys man...Jokes aside...

I used to be amazed and staring at his technique on the keys.until his BF comes and ruins the whole image..AHAHHA

We might have met before...Hmm...

But Ive not been there for quite a while though...

People there really friendly, once in a while it gets really loud...

and dude,The musician that really blows me away(not what you think, pun not intended)...is the indian bald dude...He can play drums quite well, KEyboards too(EVEN THE CAnTONESE AND HOKKIEN SONGS SOLOS), he is freaking funky on bass...and quite ok with guitars(jazz here and there)...

His bass playing damn groovy man....

miss the place,AHAH

umm the muscular keyboard..who  .(siddd you are falling sleeepy..u will forget all your embaressing experiences)..but he rocks on the keys...yea...
hehe I also remember the Indian guy...I only saw him playing bass...man..thumpa thumpa pop....lolz...kickass place..shld go there sometime when i get my salary

How old is threadstarter?

Well, 20, closing in on 21 at the end of the year. Never had time for a night life before, so right now i'm kinda trying to make up for lost time. I probably need an expansion to my social circle too, which is mostly guys who talk about ns all the time when we're out. Most of the time i end up talking about ns life as well. overall though, thanks to those who gave their recommendations. Thumbs up to u guys :smt023

You should work in a club, then you realise how wonderfull and fuct up is a nightlife.

There's BluJaz Cafe, they have acoustic acts playing there most of the time. The people there're friendly too. It's near Bugis, at 11 Bali Lane.

Also POW, at Little India. They have live bands, and lots of backpackers to socialize with.

I can't remember their names, but there are some bars at Clarke Quay that have live acts too, like the one with all the kinky jokes on the tv screen outside it.
