Newbie needs help on choosing an electric guitar!!

peninsula and bras basah are probably the best places to go. the shops put together would have almost everything you're looking for unless you're looking for something really specific

Yo bro..not sure bout the J.Suzuki..the only thing i bought of dat product is a cheap amp..which is not quite nice i might say..but amps and guitars are two really2 different things..they cannot be compared..Erm..When are u going? Maybe i'll juz tag along?

And lastly, Penin and Bras Basah are juz 10-15mins distant..u or we could go and survey for both buildings on dat same day..too bad i dunno whether they're closing this weekend or not..should be la..everyone deserve a holiday on their nation's birthday..

*I'm not a pro..especially on clean sounds..the most favoured clean sound for me is the 'warm' one..so if i ever got dat sound out of d guitar,i'll definitely recommend it to u..But mostly i know more of, is the comfort of playing the guitar..especially the fretboard..dat dude,is the most important thing other than tone sia..i can do dat for u..juz hit me as a last resort alrite..=)

hmm...y not we juz go have a look around that area, and u tell me whats good for me, say maybe, tmr or mon? not gonna buy yet, but i think we can lie our way into letting us test their instruments...

I would personally recommend Cort guitars. I've tried these guitars out myself after the hype I've heard about their high workmanship: price ratio and was pleasantly surprised.

Sweelee carries them. You could go down over to try all their Corts below $400 and if you really like one that's above your current budget now, save up a little bit more and buy that, instead of compromising for something cheaper but which you don't like.

Here's a review by sub on a $400 model: http://soft.com.sg/forum/guitar-reviews/26199-cort-m-200-a.html

if i could be of help- i'd be @ swee lee on thursday 14th August (to check out some new Fenders, highly likely buying one...) 8-)

peninsular plaza? that's off selegie road right?

kinda need a new gig myself, along with an amp. me and my friend starting up a band soon... i hope. any reconmended gigs out there that suit people with small hands? (like me)

hi i also beginner, i was looking for a guitar set, les paul specially, cos i like guitars wif a warm tone and all, i like the weight of the body, cos i dun like head heavy guitars(i learnt classical guitars-body heavy)

anyways, i was at davis in peninsular testing a les paul, costs like 250 plus wif amp all tat(not advertising at all) cos it's ard my budget, the salesman helped me in explaining electric gigs all tat, made me really wanna save up and buy. but i still think tat maybe in future u might wanna get a fender cos it's like the nike/adidas of guitars, easy to buy, maintain, keeps value for a long time.

my 2 picks worth

when u say comfortable, u mean comfortable in what sense? coz i need to know what to look out for.

1)How comfortable ur left hand feels when it's on the neck..as in try playing and mayb alittle scaling? Some necks are too big..feels like a log is stucked there..lolz..suck to d core..

2)Is the big or small body applicable to u? If it's discomforting, then yea..there's ur answer..this principle is mostly used in comparing different designs, like between les pauls and flying V, Explorer and Stratocaster..u noe, dat kind of stuff..obviously different in shapes, design and weight..but for ur differentiation of Cort g200 and g210, i'm not sure if they carry different body profiles..

3)How comfortable is ur right hand when u strum..especially picking..coz guitars hav different size of gaps between strings base on the company or guitar design..dat's wat i've experienced myself so far..usually it's recommended having a not too big not too small gap, imo..

4)The tone..it would be great if u noe wat kind of clean sound u like..warm? or bright? etc..i'm into warm..so if u noe how 'warm' is and the guitar doesnt carry such sound, then it's simply not wat u want..

fender = nike/adidas of guitars, easy to buy, maintain, keeps value for a long time? dude wtf man lol.
if u're thinkin that fender stratocaster prices will skyrocket after 10 years think again man.
it aint no 1950's , 1960's pre-cbs strats.

ok..maybe not good value..i mean generally the fact tat it is hanging around most guitar stores wif the american flag logo so visible next to the strings...
