newbie here , need help from guitar experts

hey guys , i m a newbie so i need help from you guys to decide on some things.
i saw an ad selling a samick flying v for $150 sg , i asked him why is it selling this cheap and this was his reply:
"Hi,
There are some dings, and scratches all over. Some parts of the hardware are rusty too. That's why i'm selling so cheap. I will send u a pic of it when i'm free. Ok? "
this was his 2nd reply:"There are some r scratches on the pickups and a chip on the fretboard, and some of the hardware are rusted as it's rather old. I'm selling this price because i in need of space.
"

should i get it?? thanks for reading this guys =)

Stevie Ray Vaughan had a bloody beat up strat man...

But in my opinion, i would get a new guitar to start my own journey with. Feels weird using someone else's old guitar.

But if the price is really right... doesnt really matter..

Seek the suggestion, go see the guitar yourself 1st..

The Guitar looked quite sleek to me! As least it's Samick. If it had been TGM, i wouldn't even consider it for 50bucks.. hahah.
Actually, if you are a starter, I thought Flying-V might be abit troublesome to sit and play with it, don ya think so? I always thought Flyin-V is only good for gigs etc... but for comfort wise, not that good. Anyway, that could be my subjective point of view. No offence taken.

1. Despite the dings & all, if it's a functional guitar it's a worthy consideration.

2. Ignore the brand name, if you feel good playing it & it sounds decent, might be a gd buy after all.

more importantly, do audition it in person.

hmm , i emailed the person about letting me try before buying it , but he said he doesn't have an amp so i can't try...

maybe there's something wrong with the guitar?

do you/ any friends own an amp?

otherwise, you have to take his word for it but have him guarantee a return should there be something wrong with the guitar subsequently.

go try anyway
if it sounds good unplug
then start to look for amp to plug in

if it sound bad unplug ... can forget it.

what is a 'good' unplugged tone? what is then a 'bad' one?

when we are out to buy a solid body electric, considering the unplugged tone is quite secondary. yes, chances are, pleasant, resonant, unplugged tones from solid-bodies will almost always sound good plugged in, but this is not a sure formula.

my take on this will be; buy the guitar if it sounds good to you.

but guyz.. i tink he specifically mentioned being new..
and i dont quite remember myself being able to "like" or
differentiate a sound back when i just started.

hmm.. or maybe its just me.. 0_0 *shrugs*

hey dude, flying v wouldnt be a good start guitar.
i started out with a samick flying v and i sold it after 3 months.
it's jus really uncomfortable to play it while siting down. u gota play it like a clasical guitar. but to me the posture of how u place the flying v is similar to the way you're gona hold a guitar at a gig.

anyway i bought a warlock and an ironbird after that and sold it soon after. round body guitars are beter i gues. jus like les pauls : )

if you feel comfortable with it, you should go for it, a couple of scratches here and there are nothing.

i gave up an 8-month-old guitar for a 16-year-old one because it felt nicer to me.

if you cant try it... i got nothing to say there.

how much is a samick V brand new?
i think it's around $220 to $250.

check out the price, see the condition, and judge whether it is worth the price or not.
