Newbie Guitar Recommendations

Hi people!

I'm going to get an electric guitar (well, I don't have one) after my O levels.

Anyone can recommend any starter packs for beginners?

I keep seeing you people talk about Swee Lee. I've never been there before. Is that place good to buy music equipment?

By the way, my (mum's) budget is around SGD$500.

Squier good starter guitar....Dean got starter pack .... and Ibanez have also

i like ibanezes but they suck lol.
ask you mom to raise your budget by a lil and you can get yourself a decent guitar and a cube

Gee, I would like that, but my mum says that 'to play safe' she wants to get me the basic stuff first lest I 'run out of patience and stop learning' =.=

High five! Get an LTD starter pack, their cheap and good, from davis, and when you're really into guitar, JOIN THE JACKSON CLUB!

Haha thanks alot. I don't mind Ibanez guitars, but I seem to be more attracted to Paul Reed Smith(or their look alikes)

Gee, all 3 (PRS, Ibanez, Strats) have the same similar shape..

To meekahsoh: thanks for your suggestion too. Come to think of it, I shouldn't be THAT choosy as a beginner right?

Another thing: What are 'floyd rose bridges'? (or something like that) Does Ibanez guitars have them? Some say that beginners shouldn't start with guitars that have this system...

Ibanez have the floating trem on the RG Tremolo and S series. It looks like this
