New pups (not again...wait..its p-90s!)

hi people...have not really posted much on this forum...anyways my squier is starting to wear out...I got the telecaster custom 2...I think I posted a pic of it on the gear thread ( i think)...basically its starting to break down...bought it in 2005 when it first came out....now its starting to hate me...my bridge pup shocks me whenever my elbow touches the bridge...(something like static electricity shock..) its been happening for the past 4 months...last time I had rudy of ebanex to set it up for me...what could be the problem?..but I also have plans to change pups...so give me some recommedations please =) basically im a huge frusciante fan...need something that can go real clean and the bridge dirty with fuzz...advice would be great thanks mates

p.s sorry for long post..

if you really like nice cleans, why not get noiseless? i simply love the cleans on those things, also, when slightly driven, the effect is WOOOOOOHOOOOOO

actually..I was aiming for noiseless ...but I dont mind a combo of different brands...cause I usually use the pickups individually....I hardly use middle switching..any recommendation of pups...emgs would be a sin

emg's are never my thing lah, old school rock, blues, church. alternative. no way emg's fit.

noiseless is good, why not look at lace sensors?

frusciante's pickups are stock in his strats. so getting his sound wouldn't be as easy as buying a pickup which is made now. try getting a somewhat low output pup? and he boosts it with the micro amp, uses a ds-2, muff and fuzz factory for all the different tones. he uses many modulations too and his studio recordings are mostly impossible to recreate especially on stadium arcadium.

Go get some new P90s! Then tell me whether they're good or not 'coz I want P90s too, hahahaha...

"suck" has a point....im just trying to get a funky clean tone...somewhat like I switch between the 2 pups like clean neck pup tone...then when it starts to build up..flip to ripping distortion/fuzz tones on the bridge...yep..Im open to anything....besides...its a squier..but this one feels worth upgrading... advice plz especially the experienced ones....

(why are p-90s so difficult...)

if you have a tube amp you could do this.
low output pup in the neck, with low volume
high output in the bridge, with high volume.

needs 2 volume knobs though, and wouldnt work on most solid state amps.
or you can just flick the pickup selector and turn on a dist pedal at the same time which is easier, as your squier probably has a master volume knob.

ir's possible because the Tele Custom II has 2 sets of vol/ tone for each pickup:

i had good results with Duncan's STK-p90, stacked P-90 for less hum...

Actually Emgs are quite versatile

eg: Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits
he uses EMG most of the time and get all kind of sounds.

well...i might just be going down to peninsular tis thursday afternoon...might look at davis for any soapbars...maybe ask guitar connection for some help as well..
