I got an old yamaha 912jm from a friend who wasn't using it anymore. Sold me at a really low price out of goodwill. Problem with most yamaha electrics are that the hardware are exclusive to yamaha and that almost impossible to get a compatible replacement part. What was missing was the trem arm and the locking nut.
What they did was, clement removed the original trem arm holder by sawing it away and replacing it with a generic floyd rose model. We thought that was it. Then we found out that the normal locking nut couldn't fit the yamaha nut. So ended up buying a replacement from music theme and adding shims to get the correct height. The installation process is a lot tougher than what i can describe here. The guitar plays beautifully now. Also kudos to biza who helped out with the set up.
Seriously amazing job and they managed to fix up a great guitar which i thought was a lost cause.
The guitar
Closer view of the 2 piece ash body
bridge with replacement trem arm holder (original was flush with the bridge)
closer view of nut with added metal shims
view of the neck joint. Uncannily similar in design concept with the washburn n4
view of the trem. Hmm double locking without string cutting. Copy of edge pro?
The neck is really thin similar in feel to a wizard neck. Its unfortunate yamaha dosen't do anything like this anymore. Its everything you'd expect in a shredder's axe. Also comes stock with dimarzios.
Really thankful and grateful for the guys at guitar77.
