New electric guitar

Hi guys, i'm thinking of getting my first electric guitar either this week or next week. And my budget is around $400-500 with AMP.

With my budget, i dont think i can get a decent amp with a lespaul copy or sg copy. hence, i would probably settle for a timbre sr200 strat though i would prefer a lespaul or sg. I would play mostly classic rock and blues. AC/DC, SLASH, those type of songs.. Is the timbre strat able to handle these type of music well with a change of pickups? I wouldn't mind changing them if i have spare cash left. Any good single coil pickups for these type of music you would recommend?

Another thing would be the amp. I'm thinking of getting a Pathfinder 15R which costs about $150 at citymusic or Vox VT20+ which retails $225? As of now, i would just use it for practice and stuff but in the future i would consider joining a band and play gigs. Any other good or worthy AMPs to recommend? Mostly to get nice classic rock tones and nice cleans.

To summarize,

1. Would the Timbre SR200 strat be able to handle acdc, slash tones as well as blues well?

2. Any other electrics to recommend with my description of what i would be playing and fit my budget?

3. Which Vox amp should i get or what do you recommend instead? I'm digging marshall MGs but reviews aint as good as the Pathfinder though.

4. Any good single coil pups you recommend to play the classic rock and blues? Giovanni, John Suhr, Seymour Duncan??

That's about it,

Many thanks!

moats, why don't you just waltz into the store and try all the things that interest you? There is only so much we can tell you in words, but your ears will tell you more.

moats, as GoliathZero said, go try them out for yourselves to know.
every one has different preferences over tone and the feel of the guitars.

as for getting slash/acdc like tones, honestly it would be difficult to achieve with that kinda setup IMO.
firstly, note that the guitar amp makes up for approximately 70% of the tone equation. the rest come from the efx, guitar wood, pickups, playing style.

dont bother about pickups first... use the stock ones, get your playing up to standard. over time u will understand what kinda tone u are seeking and u will know what pickups will suit u better, rather than us recommending something we know works for us, but might not work for you.

to fit your budget, maybe u can try looking for 2nd hand deals here. bring a friend who plays guitar to go with you to try the guitars and amps. much easier to get gear to fit your budget.

another thing to mention from personal experience.
if you plan to go with digital multi-efx (pod xt/x3, boss gt series etc), a setup with monitor speakers thru a mixer will serve you well for home use, much better than with a guitar amp. as for gigging, usually the venue provides the amps unless u want to bring ur own.
if u go analog, then amps are a better choice.

Not suitable. It's a good guitar, but it is a cleaner, thinner, brighter sounding guitar and more suited for the clean stuff. For ACDC/Slash type tones, you should consider an LP... Check out Rally, available from the same shop as Timbre, and from what I've heard, the stock pickups are good so you won't really need to change them that fast.

For amp, look no further than the Vox Pathfinder 15R. Won't need to upgrade from that for a while as it is a really good clean platform. Guitar wise whatever suits you best.
