Hi snuffleupagus,

Yes, every Bogner Alchemist combo or head does come with a four-button footswitch that controls the Channel Select, Boost, Delay and Reverb.

very limited info on the site..
-does it have a efx send n return?
-what other extension cab can i use with that head?

thanks!

Wat are the speakers that r loaded in the cabs? And is it true that chinese tubes r used in the Alchemist?

Hi Gr3y,

All 3 models feature effects send'n'return.

As for other alternative cabs, we are unable to give you an answer. Tones are subjective. A guitar amp that sounds good to one individual, may sound different to another. The only advice we can provide is just to make sure that your extension cabinet is able to support the 40W power of the Alchemist head. And for your info, all three alchemist models are using premium Celestion speakers.

Hi jskadiang,

We are only bringing in the Bogner Amplification line of products, not the Bogner Custom Shop. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Hi MrBukka,

The Alchemist Cab feature Celestion Heritage Series speakers.
- One 12" Celestion® G12M Greenback speaker
- One 12" Celestion® G12H Anniversary speaker
(most commonly used by Jimi Hendrix).

This means that you are getting 2 different speakers inside one cab, arranged in a cross-loaded speaker pattern. This goes the same for the Alchemist 2×12 Combo, while the Alchemist 1×12 Combo comes fitted with 12" Celestion® Vintage 30 speaker.

As for the tubes, we have yet to find out as we did not dismantle our newly shipped bogner amps. However, as to our best knowledge, all 6L6 power tubes and 12AX7 preamp tubes (which the Alchemist uses 2×6L6 and 5×12AX7) are only being manufactured in 3 countries - Russia, China and Slovakia. The tubes are probably from one of these 3 countries.

thanx citymusic for the info, will surely drop by and test them out, btw will they be on sale during the christmas sale?

Good question MrBukka,

Will there be a Christmas sale in December?
Does everyone wish for a City Music Year End Sale?

Hmm.... Lets keep it a secret for now. LOL. We shall find out very soon!

Hi kaiwenny,

By itself, the Alchemist produces sparkling clean sounds and bright and warm crunch tones.

The answer to your question lies not just solely on the amp, but also depends on the type of guitar and the effects that you use. The Alchemist coupled with the right choice of gadgets/effects/distortions and pedals, definitely has the capability to handle the metal genre. Likewise goes the same for other amps like the M*** B*****, heavy metal players don't just depend on the amp alone for the metal sound, they use a variety of effects and pedals to achieve the sounds that you hear in their final CD compilations.

id save up for the small one.thats pretty cheap for a bogner.

dude a bogner!where the **** can you find a bogner for that price?!

how do i convince my wife i need another amp head? sigh. if the bogner alchemist is on sale this dec...i may just have to buy it first and think about the consequences later...keke.

From what I know, the tube config is as follows :
V1 - V3 (preamp) : ElectroHarmonix 12AX7EH
V4 (FX loop/internal fx) : Ruby 12AX7
V5 (power amp phase inverter) : generic chinese tube
Power tubes : Ruby 6L6GC STR

Oh, btw, the fx loop is parallel with level control.
