How does the Line 6 Backtrack+Mic compare to the Zoom H2 Handy Recorder?
I understand you guys are a distributor of both.. Thanks for your attention!

Hi Godspeed64,

It is hard to compare the Backtrack and the H2, although they are both recorders, but their applications are quite different.

The multi-purpose H2 recorder as you may know, offers superior stereo recording with 360 degree coverage from its 4 high quality condenser mics. This allows you to capture realistic recordings for any type of environment and applications, i.e.- musical performances, inside a jamming studio, songwriting, rehearsals, conferences, seminars, podcasts, interviews..... the list goes on. Even journalists use it. Unknown to many, the H2 is actually being featured on TV almost everyday. Unbelievable? Try to tune into one of our local/regional "news channel", and if you see an interview going on during one of the news reports, you will most likely see the H2 being used in the background!

Why was the BackTrack created? The BackTrack is a recorder that was originally designed for guitarists/songwriters who wish to record their ideas, riffs or vocals on the go. Inspirations can strike at any moment, and the BackTrack can effectively capture your ideas easily, in the shortest amount of time. For example, if you suddenly wake up at 2am in the middle of the night, and you have this great song in your head, but you need a device to record fast. However, if you were to use a recorder like the H2 or any other recorder in the market, by the time you have finished setting it up with all the tweaks and settings done right, you would have forgotten most of your song. The BackTrack is simple.... just plug and play. Recording is triggered instantaneously once it detects a signal through its 1/4-inch input, or when the ultra-sensitive mic picks up a sound. You never need to hit the record button. The recording stops automatically when it no longer detects a signal.

One of the functions that the H2 does not have is the 1/4-inch input, which the BackTrack allows for crisp, clean, noise-free audio recording no matter where you are. This allows you to record from almost any source (not just guitars) that utilizes a 1/4-inch jack.

The BackTrack runs on internal batteries (up to 8 hours) which is rechargeable via a USB connection. The BackTrack's built-in memory allows up to 24 hours of audio capture depending on the capture settings used. The highest quality that the BackTrack can record is up to a stunning 24-bit, 48 kHz audio resolution. We were pleasantly surprised by its size - ultra-small, compact and portable, like the size of a pager.

Hopefully, this gives you an idea on the differences between the H2 and the BackTrack. We have yet to go in-depth into exploring the full capabilities of the BackTrack but will keep you updated when we do. Cheers everyone... and sorry for the wall of text.

Really really appreciate you help here! I've noticed the H2 everywhere indeed, which intrigued me.. Seeing them used in such situations would mean the quality of the audio is more than acceptable.. I'll head down soon and seek for more help before I make the proper purchase..

Thanks for your help again!
