i promised Vaiyen i'll post the pic of paul gilbert's fx setup when he was performing here, but have not gotten to developing the pics yet. but here's neil zaza's setup when he was here last year for a clinic.
he's got 3 keeley stuff: the compressor, keeley mod ts9, and the colourful stompbox. that box is suppose to give him the midrange tone like one u get when u set the wah in mid sweep. you can programme a few settings on that. the ts9 is mod to his specs. the rest are stock:dd5, phase90 (older version), vox wah, tu-2, hugh & kettner tube preamp. i know he borrowed that from a cort rep coz he blew his sansamp tri-amp. u can see a pack of 9v batt on the upper left. i can't remember if he prefers batteries or there is no power supply for some of the stompboxes. all this are run through the fx loop of the js peavey head/cab. he bypassed the preamp section of the js head. using the hugh & kettner as his preamp instead. such sweet tone he got.
n here's paul's picks
the two on the left are his older picks from the two clinics he had here the last few years. the yellow one is from the concert. it is a 0.7mm tortex. (the white ones are not as thick as malmsteens like i mentioned sometime ago, my apologies! it could be between 1.2 to 1.5mm)
that's what i have for now. hope you guys like it.
