Hi!
I just had my olevels results back, couldn't qualify for SP's DMAT.
And i would really like to pursue Music.
I've checked out NAFA and Lasalle's requirements.
I have no problems with those O'level credits requirements,
but main thing lies in I DO NOT HAVE ANY ABRSM grades!

Anyone knows where teaches Music?
I would prefer Private Schools ):

Check if they accept trinity. They have no grade 8 prerequsites for some instruments. You might be lucky enough to obtain grade 8 mid of this year.

im so sorry!
I mean places that can teach you a certain instrument slowly and teaches audio techniques. Like sp's Music and audio technology! hahaha srry!

Hope you get your ABRSM grading.

Let this be a lesson for folks who have the same intentions. Get your necessary qualifications done, in the event that they may be needed.

Don't leave it to chance. It's one thing to be confident& an entirely different thing to be smart.

in such fields, contacts and portfolio are more important than the paper qualification itself. so it really depends, kinda good news that ur parents support u on such an idea though, most parents i know will advise against such an education path for obvious reasons.

it's better if u have a clearer picture of what u really want, eg, be a sound engineer? performer? or more specific job next time? rather then just enter a generic music education course. reason being u can study music part time while doing a main course somewhere else. i was once in ur position and i weighed my choices, it was a real headache.. lol

But i dowan to waste my time to study something i don't like in a poly );
Hahha i'd want to be a performer

It's awesome that your dad is supportive& it's wonderful that you wanna be a performer.

Still, do give serious thoughts on taking up sound engineering, for example, because it will help you as a performer& with the knowledge you gain, should ( touchwood) your aspirations as a performer doesn't pan out, you still have a technical qualification that could lead you to a related path, say a producer etc.

It's good to have a dream but it's better to have a plan.
