Squier strats are great, but the Affinity series should be avoided...

the older Samick units are to be avoided. the current Greg Bennet designs are value for $$$ 8)

i really adore the sa series by ibanez, but it's difficult to play with the middle pick up there, then again it's just me :roll:

But i'v comments from retailers regarding the tone not that versatile. But the SA series is very well made with with a really thin neck. Got one of them really caught my eye. The initials is SAS smth smth its 1k at SL. Or best get RG series. Oh yea where to purchase MIJ RG series?

I'd say the best one to et in ur budget range is the Yamaha Pacifica series. Go buy th 2nd hand one, real bang 4 buck. But do test it out first, preferably with a fellow SOFTie. And wld u kindly go read the posting guidelines. Thx very much. (Not trying to flame here, trying to help new ppl get everything right b4 some1 flames them for doing something wrong)

the Affinity series (fr personal encounter) has construction issues, the hardware (especially the tuners) could have been better, the tone isn't quite as splendid as the Standard models & the feel is synthetic. the only reputable Affinity i've come across is the Hello Kitty model.
i've nothing against the Squier brand name (might get one later this year), if you insist on one, make sure you invest in a California/ Std model.

yes, the Cali Squiers has that bare-feel maple which is a love/ hate affair.
if your guitar is a Fender, get original fender parts to avoid alignment issues.
