Need some tech help - Urgent!

I bought a new strings, wanted to try out different gauge.

After playing few days i realised my bridge was raised tremedously high, like last time when the position i would push my tremelo arm.

The back of the guitar, the holes didn't match the bridge' holes already.
I thought it would match, when i first got the guitar the bridge was flat.

Anything i have to adjust? I dont know what to do, i open the back of the bridge there's 2 springs. Do i add 1 more to counter the strings?
I dont know what are those called, pardon for noob.

And from this i notice, whenever i change string change 1 by 1 better? Cos i thought for electric change everything together faster.
Now it's like if you removed all strings, and say you string in the low E first, the bridge is only supported by that string and i thought it would snapped pretty fast.

I snapped a string by keep tightening it, the pitch wasn't right, i believe the bridge was at fault.

OH and i'm using the bridge which you can insert the tremelo arm by screwing in one.

No locks

There's 2 screws i found on the metal plate the 2 sptrings are connected.
Maybe screwing it will tightening the spring to counter the strings?

Not sure sry

went to higher gauge right?
put one more spring at the back and put something under the tremolo between the body, like a thick cloth so it doesnt get pulled down towards the body.
then retune make sure tremolo is flat with body.
then remove the cloth, see how much the tremolo goes up or down, thats when you screw in or out the 2 screws at the back to level it again.
after that retune again etc.

Alright, trying it right now. Update again thanks

Oh how do you get the spring the back. I'm struggling to get it on!
- I figured out, releasing the 2 screws, but are they long ones? I dont want them to end and just pop out. My fingersr all sore now

floyd rose is with lock and arm right?

mine is no lock, and arm is screw in type.

err it's abit done now, but tension on the strings can feel.

so err next time i change my strings, change 1 by 1 uh?

easier if you change one by one.
but i like to change all at same time, then i can clean and condition the fretboard also.

thats why i said earlier put something under it, like a piece of cloth folded etc so it keeps the trem level.

What guage did you change from? to?

Don't change guages drastically; you'll spoil your guitar.

If you changed >=0.03 difference (ie 0.1 to 0.13), may I suggest that you loosen all your strings down and then send it to a tech to setup.

Everdying, sorry to say, but please don't advise without knowing the full picture.

i had a curious fren..who changed his regular gauges of slinkies..to the ghs zakk wylde strings..hell the trem went upwards..and he left it like tt for months..now due to the fatigue..the springs are stretched now..

thanks guys i didn't know it would affect.

i forgot what gauge i bought for this one i threw the packaging away.
and also i bought a spare one the other day.

Maybe this spare one i'll how it goes on the bridge then i'll stick to this gauge.

Thanks

thor666, i've been playing for a long time and also setup my own guitars as well as for others.
this is the first time i'm hearing "Don't change guages drastically; you'll spoil your guitar."
setup of a guitar isnt exactly rocket science.
if you know what you're doing, there is very little chance your can damage your guitar.

So you mean if you change from 0.09 to 0.14 on any guitar without doing a set up, there's no chance of spoiling the guitar?

What I'm saying is, wouldn't you think that, for the posts here, without sufficient information, it's not ideal to give advice without knowing exactly the issues concerned with the guitar? Furthermore, you do realise you assume he did a set up prior to changing his strings. Which is exactly what I was saying in my last post.
