Need some advice!

Well, i'm new to the forums and i have decided to save up for a new guitar.

My current guitar is a yamaha pacifica something second hand (alder body, p/us upgraded to kent armstrong), and my amp is a crate gxt15.

I feel there is no reason to upgrade to an amp as the place i jam at is at my friends house and he has a twin reverb so... -.-

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I would like to know whether i should attempt to make one myself - but i dont know the cost of

1) Wood Body - Mahogany/Alder/Korina
2) Guitar Neck - Rosewood would be fine
3) Shape - Strat like/Tele like/SG like
4) Random circuits

and i have no idea how to finish my guitar, or whether i'll screw up the electronics and finish

Or should i just get like a second hand epi lp standard or MIM fender strat and upgrade the p/u and tuners?

Buy a secondhand. And decide what guitar you want. No point getting a guitar if you have no idea what you want with the guitar.

no point making unless u got the time, patience and the skills.

save up for something good. with the money used to make the stuff, u can get a decent guitar, and save a hell lot of time and stress lol.

Upgrading a 2nd hand one would be a better choice in my opinion.

Or if your're up for a custom, get a shop to do it for you... i guess it's safer that way ya?..

of cuz the selection of the shop to do it is another issue altogether.. haha

What do you mean upgrade? Get something with better wood/workmanship/brand or something tone-wise? If you want the former, then 2nd hand cheaper stuff like epi LP won't get you there and you still have to spend more money on electronics.

If its the latter, then it looks like your Yamaha is zhnged. On the other hand if you're looking for another kind of tone(LP/strat/ibanez tone), then obviously you have to get that particular guitar.

So before you decide on anything, maybe think about the things you want in the new guitar first.

okay... my yamaha IS zhnged.. and i would like a lot more tones

so a tele/strat with H-H config/lp would be what i am aiming for

i shall just hang around the selling forums and wiat for a gd deal.

does anybody know whether the fender MIM strats are swimming pool routed?

Certain periods of MIM strats are H-H-H routed.
