Need recommendations for mics for growling vocals

As above, not quite sure whether the Shure 57/58 are suitable. I have looked at the freq response for the Beta 58 and seems like it has better bass response, maybe better for low guttural metal growls? Or are there any other brands that are similar to that?
 
I forgot to add I have no phantom power and my room is largely untreated so probably a dynamic mic is more ideal?
 
Look at the audix mics as well as the AudioTechnica's ones. I found the former to be able to tame the thicker sounding vox.

the world famous SM-57 or you could use a SM-58, it has a boost in the mids so you don't really have to EQ much later. mics are by SHURE
