need introduction to local/regional music of the 60s-70s

Hi guys,

I've been trying to find out more about local and/or regional music of the old days.. 60s, 70s, maybe even the 80s. Anyone can point me in the right direction? Names of artistes, song titles, big hits of the time.. regional can include Asian or ASEAN region. language is not restricted to English.

the purpose of this information is to review material for an upcoming gig.
