Need help with choosing guitar

Hi guys... I've been playing on the accoustic for a year plus... thinking of trying out the electric... I've been reading reviews here and there to find a good buy... Basically, budget-wise would be around 600 (guitar + amp)... read that the Yamaha Pacifica 112J was not bad. similarly the ibanez gsa-60 had fairly good comments... any other suggestions from the brudders or sistas here? Also, i am gonna try playing rock when i get the guit, so maybe that'll be put into consideration also?

You can also ask davis about their beginner packages, which includes guitar and amp.

the yamaha pacifica 112 isn't such a bad beginner guitar, BUT, its a bit overpriced at $300-400
