hi, i've been playing my acoustic for about a year now and want to try to go on and play the electric. can u guys advise me on which guitar is best for me??
i have a S$350 budget on only the guitar and like to play rock and maybe metal too

you can try going for the squier stuff i think it's around that price range..if not you can always check out the forum's buy/sell there's tonns of good deals :)

smash's a good choice as well, other than squier
haha, for a first electric guitar i doubt anyone would want a 2nd hand if possible.

yea something with humbuckers like what ladyintears said.

try the lower end ibanez RG series. or maybe Cort X6.. or epiphone SG

i agree with Mirrorboy, try the lower end of Ibanez Rg. one of my friends owns one them, and he like it

bro ... after you played a strat and then play other axes - U will know why ..:p

yeah humbuckers good also but may be have single / single /humbucker config for added versatility

or a humbucker / single / humbucker strat style.

I think Tetra .. (softie here by the name of tetragrammaton) has a nice Japanese Vintage Chavel superstrat he wanna leggo cheap2 .... try sound him lah ....

well i know the name suggests it but is the superstrat really considered a strat, from what i know some ppl dont consider it one :o

when the word supesrtat 1st came out in the early 80s - the so called superstrat was way diffirent from a standard srat (hums / floyd rose / other mods etc) .. the only similarity prolly being the basic shape of the body ...

personally I dont consider those superstrats "strats" .. but they are great to play on from time to time ...

dont the some units of the fender strats have a trem system/buckles? :o honestly isnt the appearance the only diff? headstock/sharpen horns? and preference too of course

well just to give u a hint of whats to come. humbuckers are usually thicker than single coils, both in appearence and tone lol. most rock and metal guitarists use humbuckers to play their riffs, especially when the riffs include alot of palm muting and power chords.

heh since you dont really know the exact tone you're looking for, versatility is important for you at the moment, hss axes should be your main choice ;)

the best deal in town for a starter pack is found in city music. i don't work for them but just my honest opinion because i helped some friends scout for good and cheap starter packs recently.

their house brand, craftsman, are friggin' awesome for the price, i'm actually lil sore nobody was around to help me find such deals when i 1st started electric 7 years ago.

i heard craftsman guitars are actually factory OEMs of more popular brands, thus their more bang for the buck. if you're set for function over brand, then you should consider the GS200 for a les paul styled guitar or the ST130 for a strat styled guitar. best of all, the starter package comes with a spider IV 15 watt amp, which is good for the price.

this is the best 1st hand gear you can get at your budget of $350. if you find more happening deals let me know because i'm pretty sure this beats everything out there right now.
