Need help regarding the MIC Epiphone Dot

Hey guys, my adventurous friend recently purchased an MIC Epiphone Dot from an online forum. I tried it out a few days back and felt that it had a pleasantly warm sound going on, but the pickups were really muddy and undefined. What would be a good set of pickups that goes well with such an archtop? My friend's not looking for power, perhaps just a nice defined chunky sound that's usually associated with an archtop. Will Duncan 59s do the trick?

Pickups aside, any other comments on the MIC Epiphone Dot as a guitar per se? I heard some rumours about a crappy neck that doesn't hold well, with intonation running off like no one's business. The neck also seemed rather broad and fat when i played it, esp up the higher frets. Felt almost like a classical guitar...hahahha...is that the usual neck width for Dots? Or is it only the MIC that's like that?

Some help from all you helpful ppl will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Cheers =)

Well bro as for the pickups, u really gotta ask your friend specifically what kinda tone he is looking for and his budget for a set, then set out searching from there. I personally love the SD 59 because i have them in my LP and formally in an SG although in the neck position, it gives a nice warm tone that is very similar to classic Gibson's PAF tone with slightly higher output, and it's affordable too (perhaps u can try the SD alnico 2 pro and Custom 5 as well). As for the fat neck, it is standard across all currently production Epi Dots so no worries about that. Hope this helps my man!
