Hi i,m a guitarist. But i wish to branch into a bit of keyboard/piano playing.
like i said i,m a serious guitarist. However, i,m wondering. If i buy a 49 key keyboard, will my range of stuffs that i can play be too limited? If i,m not mistaken just 4 octaves ya?

Also, i,m using the keyboard more for your classic acousitc piano tone. rather than all the effects that come with it. Thus , efx are still good but not very neccesary

You guys who play the keyboard are the experienced ones. Give me some advice thanks.

yea you would be limited by alot actually, thats bcos when playing the piano you would want to fully use the range of voices aboard along the 88 keys, you would want to create deep fierce dynamics on the bass and that pristine clear notes on the above freqeuncies.

49 keyboards are usually cater to purporses such as lead playing, sound effects, bass etc, etc. but the whole idea of playing the piano is still to be able to manipulate the different octaves you had in hand :]

oh yea also i got a roland fantom x8 for sale at 3500 if you would like hmms i am also considering a trade for guitars, if you are interested do let me know.

:]

i think 49 keys enough for programing MIDI or backing keyboards live band, single keyboard better to use 61 keys. Maybe use 49 first then add another keyboard later on if need to expand on sounds.

Real pianists will never do that, need a 76 or 88keys. Can use it to do solos. 88keys don't need to hit octave transpose button.

Save your space, money, strength. 49 or 61 is cool.

If you are willing to spend the money for a more authentic piano playing experience, M-Audio Prokeys 88 or some new Yamaha portable grand should be godo choices. Each costs less than 1K.
