i think that might be a korean RG270..looks a lot like one...if so then the pickups are stock powersounds...

kinda true, but didn't those come with maple fretboards?

No i don't think they come with maple fretboards. Mostly rosewood.

the place i got it from is guitar connection (in penni)
so whats the conclusion?

Did the seller tell you specifically that it's an rg550? If so then i think you should take the instrument down and talk to him about it.

U better threaten for a refund, if not no one's gonna dare to buy anything or ask them for any services later. This is obviously cheating! Maybe also threaten to put pig head or something... I'm kidding.

RE: RG550?

Dear Timothy,

I'm representing Guitar Connection and my name is Kai-Chin. Before we get tomatoes thrown at our shop or something - our shop is red enough! :)-, let me clarify somethings. Timothy, I apologize for your anguish and we are sorry that there was some misrepresentation of the product. The thing about Ibanez's is that sometimes the models are not easily dintinguished. The serial numbers are not as clear cut as the Fenders and regretfully sometimes we mistake a certain Ibanez for a certain other model.

Timothy, what we at Guitar Connection can offer you now is, take the guitar back for a refund or you can choose to trade in for someting else that you may like. You are welcome to ask us to open up the guitar to check. There are members on this forum who know how busy we are and sometimes there's a tendency to overlook certain things. I'm not making excuses but just asking for some understanding on your part and the other forum members as well. We are approachable people and at anytime you are disatisfied with your purchase, you can come back and talk to us.

hope to hear from you soon,
KC

I've called kai-chin already. Really nice guy and helpful. Hope people would not mis-interpret my posts. I just wanted to know what model it was. Im not trying to say that their service isnt good or anything. Like in a saying... "sh*t happens".. ok.. thanks everyone for helping me out. Im going there tmr to get it checked. But a last question, by opening up the guitar, definately it will show the model of the guitar?

i did some reading: it seems that, Timothy's guitar is an RG270 because this was the only model which had the TRS505 floating vibrato between 1996-1998. if that guitar displays some inscriptions detailing its true identity after Timothy decided to have it further inspected, please let us know... 8)

hmm... the serial number is a little intriguing but the reference RG270 is this one here, which is exactly Timothy's guitar albeit the blur:

it's really difficult to keep track of older Ibanez models. even selected RG2XX models were once form japan like this one:

the people @ GC are good. they don't bug you if you come browsing. they offered their services, but after you tell them you are looking at stuff, they let you be. isn't that good?
