Need help in search for the holy grail of guitars

Come this Monday, I'll be selling my MIJ strat back to the person i bought from. :?

it seems like i've been blessed/cursed with having tried and currently owning an Fender American Strat. Had a Ibanez Roadstar, sold; Richie Sambora mex strat, sold; and now MIJ Silver series about to be sold. I just can't find a good sound in these models.

so can anyone recommend me a guitar with these qualities:

+ strat quack sounds
+ tele brightness on the bridge PU
+ suitable for playing 80s hard rock sounds as well
+ maple neck, not too thin (ie no ibaneztype wizard necks i'm not used to them)

For about < $1000? or just a few hundred above it.

Help is greatly appreciated :D

i think your best bet around the 1k area would be another MIJ fender...
I think you should try out the schecters too...

u tried the '57 RI MIJ Fenders? i got one and it sounds like it fits ur needs. tho not entirely sure about the tele brightness on the bridge PU...dunno if G77 still has them can go check it out. also, since u r there, as chanmin says, check out the Schecters bro. u might just walk out the store with one...keke. their teles are really sweet, but someone bought the bomber girl model oredi...shucks..

Reverend guitars

I'm sold on Reverend guitars. I'm the dealer so you guys could say I'm biased but I won't sell or represent something I would not like to own:)

I personally own an older Avenger model with "Eastpointe" neck. This's my all time favourite guitar.

haha... i should go to your house and try... joking. :p

the schecters seem to be really well received by the people in this forum. i'll go g77 probably next week and ask to try one of them out.

hmm are the reverend guitars able to emulate those 80s rock sounds? I'm looking more at the Skid Row/Motley Crue lead tones, albeit a little less "harsh" and more tonality.

btw, the reverend website doesn't have the Avenger guitar lineup featured any more. You selling their older stock? Are the necks maple? (Since Reverend has stopped production of maple for some models i think)

most 80's rock tone mainly comes from the fat distortion rather than the characteristics of the guitar, even though u can find similiar characteristics in guitars of that era.

for skid row, dave the snake sabo favoured a les paul with floyd rose, n motley, mick mars - fender strat wif humbuckers and floyd rose.

So, it isn't much of the wood of the guitar, rather, more emphasis on the type of distortion.

hope you find your tone soon. cheers :)

seriously...you want a solid guitar? to last like the next 5 - 10 yrs?
save up one shot and blow it on a vigier or tom anderson.
thats what im gonna do...

I have some models with Maple board. What I have are not old stock per se. Joe Naylor keeps changing his lineup. The Commando will meet your need. It's a Strat style, with single coil for neck and middle and a humbucker at the bridge with coil tap.

e-mail me for an appointment. You've got nothing to lose except for your time but I think you'll enjoy checking out the gear.

OI Ray, u never hear my strat meh. laneh.

get the MIJ j craft strat from luther la. got that quack sound u were talking abt lol!

No such thing as the Holy Grail of Guitars that does everything.

That's the beauty of it and a great excuse to own several. :)

hofner: quack is kinda like ... well... a little of a duck "quacking" timbre... similar to twang i guess. the sound that's reminiscent of most strats with stock PUs. :)

newbie: looking for the other features as well leh... haha. the j-craft thing is tempting me though...

vernplum: yeah i guess so... well need a versatile enough guitar that fits my needs to bring out for gigging thou... I can't imagine lugging more than 1 guitar around... :x

Ernieball musicman Steve Morse signature model...regret selling mine to a fren..but then, its more than 2K..but the no. of sounds you can get from the pickup configurations are endless..
