im looking between the ctk 3000 ($190) / 5000 ($359)

and yamaha E413 ($299)

im still a begainner and my budget is around 200-300 .. so im looking at 2nd hand stuffs got a few deals but i dont know which to get..

my purpose of getting it is just to play around with music and do composing and recording =)

please advice which to get

thanks in advance

If you want to do some serious composing and recording, I would actually recommend the Yamaha MM6. It's not too shabby a keyboard set; it's easy to use and packs a lot of power. Allows recording through quarter-inch, MIDI or USB.

Price, though, is on the hefty side. Think it currently retails for $910? Wait till Yamaha has their year-end sales; it'll slash down by quite a fair bit.

hmm thankyou for the reply but .. thats kinda too much over my budget =/

Hi jeremy, given your choice, I'd pick the E-413 for its reliability and key touch. Check out a E-423 w/ stand in Criagslist.

oh hmm i was deciding between e-413 and ctk 5000 but from what ive read on reviews it seems like ctk 5000 has more features and weighted keys and stuff? do u have any idea about the ctk 5000?

thanks for the reply btw

Why not go check them out...I suppose you have narrowed down to these two keyboards from the used market? You need to like what you hear (the sounds) and feel (touch of keys). Of course, given your interest in composing, having MIDI to PC capability might be a consideration when you want to do sequencing with PC/laptop later.

Try Luthermusic...check out their website. Frankly, those keyboards you saw are not high end stuff but at first hand price. With your budget and selection, you might easily find your keyboard in the used market. Having said that, getting used keyboards is not a bad thing coz if you are into keyboarding, what you would be getting today will not be the only keyboard you would stick to.
