Hi guys,
got a problem, while adjusting pickups this happened,i have an epiphone g400 custom and there are three humbuckers. While adjusting the pickup heights of the middle one i realized the humbucker was slanting too much to the side so i tried to tighten the other end, hoping that it would level the humbucker...but it didn't!!!! Now my middle humbucker is just sitting there slanting to a side. How do i level it back up? the screw on the other end won't bring it back up no matter how much i turn anti clock wise or clock wise.

The spring inside, which houses the screw, must have come off.

You gotta remove the affected humbucker's screws. Notice how there are 6 screws on each pickup? 2 which holds the humbucker, and 4 which hold the pickup ring.

Take out the 2 screws which are holding the pickup down from the affected pickup first. Best if strings are already removed prior to this.

Each of the 2 screws which hold the pickup has a spring which houses the screw. Now, re-house the screw back into the spring and re-screw 'em back on.

Might take a few tries initially, but you'll get the "feel" after a while and would have no problems should it happen again in the future.

Hope this helps! :)

mockingbird,i did exactly as you said, removed everything and then yes,a screw was loose,it came off,i re-aligned it back BUT no matter how i screw it in,anti-clockwise or clockwise, the pick up won't move?Dang this is frustrating...

Don't worry bro, it happens.

This happened to me before. What I did was, I re-housed the screw back into the spring. Then I bent a thin paper clip to make it have a 90-degree angle. Then I slotted this into the little space or "hole" that the "loose" pickup creates.

Then using the bent paper clip, lift up the pickup while re-screwing it at the same time. Take it out before you run outta space.

Very hands-on and takes a lot of effort, but a good learning experience! :)

oh man, i've never thought of the paper clip method, i always try to use some other thing to probe the pickup which gets frustrating.. haha + your points!
