Hi guys,
I'm thinking of buying a non conventional look guitar and I don't want to spend much cos I know that I'll still be playing my old strat. :)
but I'm quite bored with a strat/superstrat or les paul look

So, I'm eyeing for a Dean Dime o Flage now....retail at abt 490-500 @ StandardValue and Ranking Sports...

this is the particular guitar

of course, this is an affordable version of the Dean Dimebag signature which is originated from China...

my plan is....buy it, drop a '59 and JB/X2N

anyone ever try this guitar and willing to share their opinion??

thanks a lot guys :D

woo deans rule!but the only set-back about this one is that is a bolt-on neck.if ranking brings in the razorback db then go for it.its suppose to be an affordable ver of the original razorback and is in bolt-on too.but should cost more than the one you are contemplating on.

passed by ranking awhile back, they have usa razorbacks i think. WOAH! but emgs not for me man.. but got a model with seymour duncans. set neck models, good quality. even the rosewood they use is not those cheapo kind. but all above $2000+ hahaha

those are not usa razorbacks.they are either koren or chinese made.usa price vary from 5k to 7k.the razorbacks do come in duncans if you cant take the emgs.

what, $2k+ for a china guitar? lol. can i confirm that we are talking about the same guitar.. cos i'm talking about the set neck models in ranking

So u guys saying just buy thehigher end Dean is it??:D

But actually is being bolt on really a problem??I'm using American Trad strat and a PGM(with Dimarzios)...obviously both are bolt on but they do sustain well in my opinion....better than some les paul that I had...never own a gibby tho....

if u r interested in getting a dime shaped guitar, i recommend u check out the j&d dime model copy also available at ranking. first off, i believe it's less than $400. 2nd, the headstock is dean shaped not some lame j&d shape. also the logo is a very beautiful J letter fused with D letter, overall looks like the letter D which make people think it's a Dean haha. go check it out man.

Hahahaha....checking j and d website now......:)

the problem is....whatever it is, I'm going to change the pups to 59 and jb....means...if I buy a j &d for (let say) 350...then add 250 for the pups and installation....I have a 600 bucks j&d which I won't be able to sell off even for less then 300....

Hey dude...

I'm having a Dean ML Noir XT which i bought from Music Theme (David). Got it for less than 1k together with a Dean hardcase. Its made in Korea but its a bolt on & the pups are blade pups. But mind u, the sustain n tone from this beast is awesome man. If u r looking for tone then this is the guitar. Tone not so bright n meant for only metal. There is a clear diff between the bridge n neck tone. At the same time the pups from dean r pretty good. Its better if u want a upgrade but TRUST ME, its still good to keep the pups stock till u have the $$$ to upgrade it. Sustain, no prob man & the neck's action is low(lovely man!). Good for shredding & riff works.

Note, Do not get the ones made in China coz the QC(quality control) is pretty bad. Try asking the shop for a korean model n they shd be able to get it for u. If i got a camera i will snap a photo of my beast n also the US serial number(though its made in Korea).

Check out the review from www.harmonycentral.com about the model.

Lastly, I do agree that not all set necks have great sustain. There r still good bolt-ons guitars out there which do not compromise tone & sustain.

hey reez bro,
recently acquired a Dean ML FBD
i serious DONT recommend those dean with bolt-ons.SERIOUSLY
the neck finish is like powdery-ish.sick.
if u were to get.try to get at least a set neck one.
more sustain and easier reach for higher frets.

for the models available in MUSIC THEME/RANKING
here is how it works.
ranking bring in 2 piece of each specific model in a single shipment
one to be in ranking and another in music theme.(different prices in different shops)
some may include a hardcase, some may not.SO DO CONSIDER WELL
one shipment comes in 6 months.

hope this helps :D

true.but the cheap china models like the dime o flage, seriously need work at the neck.

Yeah bro Rimuel....saw urs at the gallery...awesome....so u saying DON'T go for the Dime o flage is it??cos actually I just want to buy it for fun...it's not going to be my main guitar anyway....thus, I won't spend much on it.....

But I'm really curios to know....with such a sharp body and big headstock, is it neck heavy??

I will definitely not going to buy it if it's neck heavy......SG's neck heavy is still fine but like those explorer neck heavy....it's a major turn off

hey reez bro.not very neck heavy.for me is alright.yea bro.i suggest u try the neck feel and texture 1st

I owned a dean classical guitar once...never really went for their electrics but they sure have nice posters with sexy babes

Bro, the ones made in China has bad quality. Try n get the ones made in Korea. Mine is made is Korea & there is good sustain n Tone. The action is low & its a FR. Yup... I have to agree that China made guitars have bad QC. Try asking Music Theme (David) about Dean guitars n he can assist u.
