Need help again! Arbiter drums!

I've played and even performed with the arbiter flats. frankly speaking....they sound pretty awful. If size is a concern...go for the rhythm traveler...much cheaper. You can save the $$ for better cymbals.

Although the first generation traveler didn't really impress me (used it for a year as practice kit in Melbourne), the new ones sounds a lot better becos they are now packed with better stock skins and the bearing edge is alot tidier than before. I just bought another set for my 3rd studio and just finished setting it up today really. I had so much fun playing it!!! Feel free to come try it out at The Music Lab....good luck!

I tried it once in a concert and it sounds reasonable and very good when mic up. I have a lobang someone is selling it but is not well taken care off... will buy it if the price is right and restore it to brand new again...

I still the sound is crap...the bass drum being the worst! And try changing skins on them...can kill! Took me a while to get the hang of it....mic'ing dun say lah....I can make a guitar case sound like a 26" bass drum with mic'ing and some EQ'ing....

If its just for practicing, then a cheap set will do...no need to spend so much...

Arbiter is specifically designed for a working drummer always on the move for both practicing and gigging with mics.

Larry... Pearl RT is good enough for home use.

Do you have space issues at home? cos you can also save some space by facing the drum kit to the wall....you save at least 30-60cm space...so you might be able to buy a normal sized kit too....

Larry I sell you my Yamaha 9pcs Stage Custom lah.....With 9toms (you line them up 4x4 add 1 tom as pillow) - still can sleep comfortably on it when you are not playing .. Kekekeke ...How?...wanna try it? This is what they say - you eat, and sleep by it.

Seriously...Larry

You really need to test out the different kits eg Pearl Rythmn Traveller, Arbiter, or whatever kit you're now looking at eg also Tama Imperial Star (based on you own set criteria eg SPACE CONSTRAINT here) - but most importantly you have to love the Kit once you buy it - ....I mean you have to love the sound.

This is the core reason I believed why you did not get those Practice Pads- cause No Sound = No Kick hor !

Be Patient, no hurry scout around first.

agreed.

i rushed into buying a peace legion from alvin some time back. when it got set up and all, dont ask me why, i just didnt like it. felt pretty darn weird to me. thank goodness i managed to sell it at the same price i bought it at.

i didnt know what i wanted at that time. i was totally ignorant about drumming on a whole and it was only after i joined SOFT and interacted with the different drummers here that i knew what i wanted and now i know what i want for my home practice kit.

i'm pretty much set on getting a rhythm traveller (i dont really have that much of an issue with space constraints but i believe my family would prefer that i dont take up too much space). it's nice and compact and sounds much better than i expected it to be, honestly. can bring it down to my function room and have a small gig or sth lol! my priorities now would be a good snare (maybe two if my savings permit, heh!) and nice sexay cymbals.

it's only after months of deliberation that i've come to this point. i've always wanted to have a mega huge monster setup but i thought since i'm only practising at home and i aint no pro, there isnt really a point to spend that much on a mid-range or high-end kit. plus i believe they'd all sound the same at home cos the acoustics of a home setting isnt that bloody fantastic eh. heh kidding about the sound the same part!

just to share my experience, my 0.02

cheers buddy!

hey! was quite surprised to see you guys saying the Pearl RT sounds good..
the first time i saw it i thought it would sound bad...

are the stock skins u referring to mesh heads, alvin?

I own a Pearl RT but had sold it (not because it was no good), but because I have to make way for another Kit (me wify limit me to 5 kit mah)..

The Pearl RT - I wouldn't say sound Incredible, but good definetely yes for a Kit this size. To get a good sound -it is adviceable to get those (Black-Dot -Centre Remo Drum Batter) which is often choosen during the past when drummers are playing Open-Toms (bottom no Reso type)......Paste a Muffler right below the black-dot at the centre of the clear skin from underneath the Toms..............no need for Rings etc....Tune it Up and you will be surprise this little kit can produce....It's not as soft as we think.

Of course, when I play it and make a comparison between my Own Yamaha Stage Custom (the RT is out) - but such a comparison is not fair because - The Yammies is so much bigger than the RT.

PS: - Check with some of the Brothers here that came to my home and test the Kit and their commence on this RT - It's amazing and much more than expected especially for those that heard a RT for the very 1st-time....One of the Bros is - Bro Zen (a Professional Drummer from Malaysia-and he is here at Soft)- He offer to buy my Kit right-away but I have no intention to sell at that time.

Hey....I think it sounds good! But your mindset must be right...don't expect it to sound like a masters lah....I think it'll suit a small jazz setting really nicely or a drum & bass setup...

I using the stock skins still and they've really improved since 7yrs ago. I would switch to a remo emperor next cos I think double heads would help poplar to sound a little fuller...
