Hi
I have a DAT(Digital Audio Tape) which is pretty much outdated these days it seems. Recorded my band some 15yrs back. I wanted to convert it to some digital form for easier access.
The problem with the tape is that, when I played it on a DAT player(borrowed), the tape cut like flimsy scotch tape in the shape of a wedge. I tried to fix it by gluing it but it seems like the entire reel is stuck closely due to moisture accumulation(i suspect). I hardly have used this tape in years. If I try to rewind or forward I'm sure the tape is going to cut again. I opened up the tape to see if I can air it or something, I can open it up to an extent but there are some parts of it that is stuck closer than the other.
I would like some advise on how to restore the tape or dehumidify it. I do have a dry cabinet that I use for my camera/accessories. Would placing the Tape in it help?
