Hi Ruben,

What kind of recording will you be doing?

If you're doing recording that requires acoustic sound from guitar/piano/etc or vocals, you will need mic(s).
You can either choose USB or normal XLR connected mics. (i'm using a usb condenser mic myself which does not require an audio interface.) XLR connection mics require an audio interface.
* You may need to do sound treatment or proofing for your room. That one i'm still researching :P I'm looking at some foams or sort.

If you're doing MIDI also, you may wish to purchase a midi controller. (i'm using a korg61p, cheap cheap, and good enough for home production).

If you're doing several instruments at one time, you may need a mixer, especially if the no. of instruments are more than what the audio interface can handle. (i'm not using one. I do multi-tracks, but doing layering, be it midi or audio, one at a time.)

Misc items: Mic stands, pop filter, cables (1/4inch), keyboard stand, etc.

HOWEVER, you must specify what kind of recording you wish to do before one can actually assist you in building your home studio.

All the best :)

thanks for the useful info.Well im looking at recording vocals mainly.
Cos i compose in the computer using softwares and i want to record my vocals and wanna input into the computer im using to compose the tunes and all.So yea.hope this helps ya understanding wad i actualli need.

you can actually start with very little.

presonus firebox has been recommended a few times on this forum.
with this you can get a nice microphone of your choice, and a keyboard synth.

as for microphones i know sm57 / 58 are popular and u can get them cheap 2nd hand.
i heard abit about the akg perception 100 as quite a good budget condenser, can think about it

if you dont want to spend alot on software you can use a free sequencer like Reaper.

and for monitoring if you wanna get speakers, the m-audio AV40 is a pretty good budget speaker

Hey thanks dude...well im still open for more ideas from ya guys..so meanwhile will research on the items mentioned here..

Got a keyboard to compose? Assume you will just spent on audio interface and mics. I think spend more good condenser, and ok for audio interface. High end brand mic like Neumann KM 180 series, I was able get it $800 plus 7 seven ago. Audio interfere will vanish in time, but high end mics will increase it's value.
