My Piano Performance - "We Had Today" Soundtrack to One Day starring Anne Hathaway.

Good transcription. Do watch your damper pedal though (don't forget to release!). Good rubato.

Because original music is not solo piano but string based, it tends to be more sustained. Your left hand is playing quavers throughout as the basic flow for the music. Perhaps you would like to try at the end to break away from the quavers and use high octave sustains. Just a suggestion. But nevertheless, it's a good transcription for solo piano. Well done.

Thanks so much Cheez!!

I rented the piano at Cristofori and had alot of problems with the piano if you read my description in youtube.

I took 1 hour plus of perfect takes and I was about to leave Cristofori when I played back my videos and to my horror, I heard so much squeaking sound and i found out it came from the pedal.

Not only was the pedal squeaky, even the chair squeaked and it was so audible in all my 1 hour plus of videos. I went to the sales person and complained about it and she said I could change the chair.

So I went back for a final take.
But nothing could be done for the pedal so I was pressing it down all the way until mid point in the music I released and stepped on the pedal again and u can hear an audible squeak. Total about 3 squeaks in this video

And also the high C# is spoilt. It produces a very loud buzzing sound even when you apply the gentlest touch...the last 1 minute or so had lots of high C# and my heart broke whenever I hear back my playing.

I was really upset with Cristofori. I tried their other pianos in the other rooms and some of it is even worse. Some had muffled sounds, some too sharp. Some just sounded strange.

When I told the sales lady about it she said that my expectations were too high. She did however mention that the pianos were due for tuning. It is shocking that such a big firm with many branches like Cristofori doesn't even care about its quality of pianos.

Do you, or anyone know of any place where I can rent a studio with a good piano to play? Cristofori charges $10.70 per hour. It's cheap yes but the pianos are so bad. I don't mind paying more. Even $50 per hour is fine with me. I couldn't sleep the whole of last night. I was listening to the video and everytime there was a C# I really grimaced. =(

I don't know if I should feed back to Cristofori or not. It really was a horrible experience.

Oh, so you stepped on the pedal without releasing because by doing so, it squeaks! Don't worry about it then! I wasn't really listening to the how well it was recorded (that's secondary) - paying more attention to the music, transcription, how you played and interpreted it etc. You shouldn't have worried about the pedal's squeakiness and just use it. Or else, try playing it without the pedal, which can be tricky since you need to hold quite a few keys down to sustain them - not easy with too many quavers.

Don't worry about trying to get a perfect recording. I would say recording in your own home will be fine. Don't spend money on getting personal recording perfect unless you want to record for an album, which is a different thing.

The other way for recording a near-perfect sound is to get a good digital piano and record it with your computer.

Thanks so much for the advice Cheez!

Yeah I realise that Digital Pianos are the way to go now...not only they cost a fraction of an acoustic piano, they sound better and is super low maintenance. Haha!!

Once again thanks so much, really appreciate it!! =)
And also to everyone who came in to listen, thank you!!! =)
