my dd20 rejects the fuel tank jr?

Hi all, recently i've gotten myself a fuel tank jr and had hell running around getting materials to mount it as well (thanks to the previous threads it was much easier, getting wood and velcro and all.)

i daisy chained my modulations and drives had the isolated outputs.
upon turning on everything, my dd20 started flashing really madly. panicked and took it out of the rig, and tested again with my other pedals.

every other pedal was fine, even sounded fine as well.

and then i took the one spot once again, and tested it with the dd20. and it could start up normally. so i breathed a sign of relieve because i thought i fried it up.

i then troubleshooted further by isolating the dd20 with a connector and another socket of the fuel tank, and it started flashing again. can anyone pin point this problem? thanks:)

both the dd20 and fuel tank are second hands... so if this is by chance something that no one has encountered before, then i very suay!

someone encountered this before. its because the fuel tank jr's 120mA is not a high enough current to power your dd20, hence the blinking etc etc.

Lack of juice is the possible problem.

Check out the DD20's power requirements, it might be more than the fuel tank can provide.

hoho indeed. why didnt i bother checking these stuff up properly before purchasing a fuel tank. all that tone talk and all.
well i kinda solved it by just combining 2 outputs with the given cable. so im running my dd20 on 18v now. and i occupy another free slot on another output, oh well..

does it react weirdly with 18v? cause i had the same problem but i resorted to using my one spot to power it up and the drives on iso input

hey i dont think u should jump straight to powering the dd20 with 18v. check with a tech first. u might fry the components

keithc,

may i know what are you powering up with your fuel tank jr after you've made ammendments towards the DD20 issue?
are there still any slots available out of the 5?

i just used the 18 volt adaptor they included inside the fuel tank jr...
that means you have to use 2 outputs just to power up the dd20. URGHHHHH cant believe i'm doing that! and i dont think there are any improvements in tone for the dd20 whatsoever..

one for my sahasrara, one for my seventh and the rest daisy chained.. splits up to my wah, compressor, a dd7, and phaser. i use a battery for my pitchblack (which is first in line)

hey keith u can dun have to isolate ur 7th and saha to one output each, as long as it is within 150ma of the single output u can daisy chain it. I am currently doin it and powering 11 pedals with just 3 outputs and i am not suffering from any tone sucking or noise issues, goose can attest to that.

oh i see... but its fine, either way everything's going all well now..
its not like i can get a 12v output to run my seventh into, sigh.. i heard the sahasrara sounds a lot better on 12v as well!

Ahhh i see..... never tried them with 12v or 18v but i do believe the difference isnt that much perhaps slightly more headroom and lesser compression...to me i prefer a slight squish cause it makes them fatter sounding thus i never tried using other voltages, afterall gain pedals must sound fat and thumpy haha!

But if u really need the option u can try to change the FT Jr. to a modtone powerplant, heard lots of cool stuff abt it and affordable too!

hahaha NAWWW i will not. i've spend too much money already, needa discipline myself... i've got a setup that works and i'm happy:) i cant tell a difference between the 9v and 18v compression wise, but did the LED just get brighter? hahahha

andandand... that.... ac4...

thanks guys for the info.im getting the FT JR this sat.
i believe powering pedals with juice is an
important issue.
i fried one of my cheap adaptors by johnson.
didnt think about the mA.
was powering up:
1)TU-2
2)SL-20
3)DD-20

lucky i didnt spoil any pedals.
plus now i have to think about powering the flanger and EHX
graphic fuzz/i think there's no escaping the fact that i cant
use the FT JR for the graphic fuzz.have to use its own power supply.

I prever running my Sahasrara on 12v. Sounds better in my rig at least. :)
