Mute.

i need help with my palm muting.
i can't seem to make it sound out, it's very 'dead'. it doesn't resonate like it's supposed to. it doesn't matter if i'm muting lightly or heavily, both sucks.
is it the EQ, distortion, effects choice? Or just my lousy technique.
all help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, can we hear it?

What kind of equipment do you use (and what are the settings), and what kind of effect are you going for? Are you going for the Metallica style 'scooped' palm mute thrash sound?

yea i think youre muting at the wrong spot, juz mute at the correct spot, and shld be fine. Oh yea, you must really whack the strings especially when you're going chugga chugga, to me tts the most important if you want to have a really heavy sounding mute chug, whatever that is

lol i try that... but its quite hard doing it standing up... esp with the guitar 45 degrees and not 0 degree like when sitting down...

gotta like bend my hand uglily to mute the strings... can affect picking acuracy... is this suppose to happen?

If you are using a good amt of gain, then its definately technique.

A palm mute should sound out loudly but it should not resonate. Its meant to be percussive.
