Musical Instruments at Ochanomizu (Tokyo)

I go about twice a year. I usually start checking out these two sites before I go to get an idea for whats around and the price range. What you see on the net is only a small sample of what they have but it will give you an idea about what you can get for your money.

When you are there give yourself plenty of time because there are lots of guitars. My advice is to check the secondhand shops for a really good buy.

Depending upon how long you are there Shibuya is also worth checking out too.

Good luck and happy hunting

bro

sorry for all the trouble, heading there early next month

can ask for guides on how to get there ? not sure how to get to ochanimizu. ild be staying at kanda near akihabara and near to loaz (hopefully). my 2nd leg ild be staying in hatagaya(near shinjuku) is it anywhere near ochanamizu ?

it should b one stop after akihabara .. but the thing is u gotta noe which line to take.. think its either the green or grey one..

There are two train systems in Tokyo, but its simple to find your way around. The subway or metro and the JR. I just jump on the JR and get off at the Ochanomizu (tea water) station, go up the stairs (keep the river on your right side as you are walking out) I forget the exit name and go get em. Kanda is quite close and easy, so is shinjiku. Get a map from the train station when you get there, it's very easy.

Keep an eye on the time as travelling durring peak time can be a nightmare with a guitar or any large bag, but you should be fine

There are guitar stores everywhere, some buildings will have two or three stores over a number of levels so you have to look beyond just the street level. If you are just after a Japanese Strat, that should be straight forward. But if it were me I would be looking for some of the better guitars made for the Japanese domestic market and find a good used bargain, it costs nothing to try.

Last two times I have come back with Harry's Dragonfly guitars when I have gone to buy tokai, so there you go.

Give yourself lots of time, there's lots to see. If you have more time check out shibuya as well.

As you are travelling find out if it comes with a case or gig bag. Tell the shop you are flying back and they will probably pack in its case into one of the cardboard boxes that they are shipped in (make sure they loosen the strings).

Very exciting for you.

yeah

hehe i saw too many.. dunno what too choose.. ended going back to where i was putting up at akihabara and bought a kotzen tele at musicvox..

anyways.. have lotsa fun!!!
