Music Stores in Singapore

Hi everyone,

I am new on the forums so allow me to introduce myself before I get to the meat of my thread.

I am a professional musician, based in Los Angeles, a graduate of Musicians Institute's GIT certificate program and currently in the process of obtaining my Bachelor's in music from MI. I am back here in Singapore on vacation for the next 3 months, to get married :).

I own a variety of guitars but I brought 2 with me, my favourite 2. My number 1 is a Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus from 1994 that I picked up right here in singapore at Swee Lee and she has served me well over the years. My number 2 is a Paul Reed Smith Singlecut Trem that I got a couple of years ago in New York. I recently, switched the PRS pickups that came stock on the guitar to Gibson pickups and am really happy with the results.

I play through a Carvin Legacy amp in Singapore, but a Hughes and Kettner Duotone and Mesa Boogie Mark I Reissue in the States.

whew, sorry for the long intro but thanks for bearing with me. Now, I was just wondering, besides the bigger stores, like Swee Lee and Yamaha, are there any other stores that you guys would recommend me to check out?
I haven't been to Sinamex in a while and will probably swing by there in the not too distant future. But other than that, I am unaware of anywhere else to check out.

Thanks for your patience and your help.

Peace!
Luke

Hi Luke! Welcome to SOFT. :)

You have to drop down to Pennisular Plaza and check out the bunch of guitar shops there, there are many shops and they carry some interesting things.

Other than that, its City Music (www.citymusic.com.sg) and perhaps... well, not really stores per se, but local online shops like www.mrmisse.com .

Actually, ranking has quite some things... Godin guitars, Carvin (Legacy) and recently, thor666 reported that Floyd Rose guitars have come in, those with the FR Speedloaders.

Penninsula Plaza is a must! :) And since you play PRS, visiting Davies there should be a pleasant trip. Citymusic at Peace Centre would also be a good place to check out effects pedals and amplifiers. Well, paying a trip to Penninsular Plaza should cover most of the happening music shops in Singapore. Hope you have a memorable marriage in this small island of ours! :)

parklane has couple of shops such as allmusic, guitar gallery, and next to it, citymusic as mentioned

Thanks guys, appreciate all the info. I stopped by Guitar 77 and picked up a Visual Sound H20. Fell in love with it right away and had just about enough time to mount it on my board and leave for a session. The store is great and the people working there even better.

Will definitely be back but this time, Les Paul in tow.
