new to this forum..any got sch to intro for pop keyboard lesson...very keen to learn it..fyi, i am new to the world of music..pls advice me thx..i nv touch any intrument b4.. :wink:

i juz came back from one of the music school near my hse..i got this query...i when to request for a piano lesson..piano nt keyboard..so i ask do you all teach pop piano? she told me onli classical piano..scare she laugh so i ask here

does it mean when i learn classical piano..i can olso play a piece of pop piano??advice pls..is the chord diff from a classical n pop song?? :?

well..i juz wish to play some piece of chinese music,,with a piano..i love e sound of piano..heard my friend play b4..this is..so will it affect it if i take classical lesson> :?:

If what you want to do is sight-read (play bean-sprouts), classical will get you there. But I think you might have to learn what the teacher want you to learn.. usually have syllabus one so that you can take exam.
Some pop-keyboard teachers teach sight reading too, but you'll have to enquire to make sure. Pop keyboard definitely will teach you sing and play. Actually can try replugged, heard good things from my friend about the keyboard teacher. Why not just call them to ask?
Anyone else care to comment? I'm just a guitar player who has taken keyboard lessons before .

ya..cos i heard tat keyboard dun produce those type of power sound..like a piano does...the sound of a keyboard is very standard...my plan is learn a piano...n den switch to a keyboard..izzit kinda weird?

is it most of the school will use keyboard to teach pop piano class??

i think it'll be better if u look for private teachers instead of music schools. not that im biased or anything but i just feel that private teachers teach better than music schools.

sparc0, the term "keyboard" very general leh...
As what I know, some music school teach Pop Piano by using Digital Piano.

LOL!!i where got fierce sia..LOL..pop piano teaches pop la..and keyboard, got alot genres..depending on what kind of keyboard u talking about..

I always thought that learning keyboard is holding a chord with left hand (which will activate appegio) & play melody with right hand...

nah keyboard isnt as simple as u thought it would be..its quite complicated actually together with the use of its built-in effects..

The difference between piano and keyboard is usually keyboard is not fully weighted... piano keys harder to press. Piano also got more pedals to step on
Playing keyboard does not mean you hold down chords with your left hand, you can also play moving bass with left hand, like on piano.
Hmmm one basic question - you want to play piano or keyboard?
