The Straits Times also reported that talented budding local musicians could get direct funding for the recording of their compositions under a new scheme that is likely to be announced by the Media Development Authority (MDA) possibly next month.
Its proposed new scheme is aimed at giving financial help directly to artistes to make music which can include funding part of the music recording cost for new and unsigned Singaporean artistes.
So far, the MDA has disbursed music-related government funds to marketing assistance for Singapore musicians.
The Straits Times reported that in the past three years, $1.5 million of government funding have been given to music-related projects supported by MDA and the National Arts Council (NAC).
$4 million was committed by the government for music-related projects.
