Haha was just joking.
Don't be too quick to judge multi efects and single efects in general. That's the point of my previous post.
There are cheap multi efects units around. Both literally cheap in monetary value nd cheap in terms of sound quality. However, there're also very good multi effects processing units that are worth buying especially in the $500 to $1000 range such as the BOSS GT-8 and the VOX SE.
Another point to note is that 50% of the single effect units are below average (haha sounds stupid right? what does average mean? Yup it means the MEAN! =D ). And modulations, time effects, and things other than distortions are USUALLY better on higher end multi effects pedals than those botique pedals where one may cost as much as a multi effect unit.
In the distortion realm (which is very very large) the general concensus is that good moded singles or botique singles will beat almost every distortion patch available on multi effects unit especially in the non-metal distortion range. But then again, good here is subjective. There are some who may prefer otherwise!
To answer you question, whether multi effects are cheaper than single effects overall.. Singles are cheaper if you are the kind who knows what you want, and use like at most 5 pedals for you set up. Multi effects is cheaper if you do not know what you want and/or need to employ more than 5 single units for your efects chain. Short and Simple.
