Mounting the humbuckler...

I've just imported a Alnico II pro humbuckler and pardon my ignorance but which is the correct side to mount the alnico II pro humbuckler? The poles with the line grooves on the bottom and the flat poles on the top? Or the other way round.

I initially thought it was the former but when I looked at the underside of the humbuckler, the words Seymour Duncan "Made in USA" was upside down! So is mounting the humbuckler with the single line screw poles on the bottom still the correct way?

Thanks guys

the side where got cable is at the bottom. as for the "Seymour Duncan made in USA" wording... sorry i cannot help because my pickups do not have that wording, maybe because my pickup is Dimarzio LOL

Seriously.. it doesn't matter upside down, right? nobody see it anyway

ok thanks,

The engraved words dont bother me of coz, I was just worried that it might indicate that the adjustable pole pieces is mounted closer to the neck. Always wondered why SD engraves it upside down contrary to the proper mounting side.

It does make a difference which way you mount the pickup. The pickup's response to the low and high strings are different, you may get a screwed up sound if you mount it the wrong way round.

Seymour duncan has lots of info on their website, and mounting schematics. Look here:

The hendrix effect :D Wrong poles for the wrong strings for a unique tone. But then again, there ARE people who swear by installing pickups the upside down way so yea. Personal preference.
