“On his eighth album, Common turns back the hip-hop clock to the days of electro… Universal Mind Control is primarily a rhythmic celebration, paying tribute to Afrika Bambaataa and Jonzun Crew jams.” - Spin

Ranked among the leading voices of “conscious” rap music, Common has eight albums to his credit – including the 1992 debut, Can I Borrow a Dollar?, Resurrection (1994), One Day It’ll All Make Sense (1997) and Like Water for Chocolate (2000).

In 2004, he partnered with fellow Chicago native and rap music megastar Kanye West to produce Be, which went on to garner four Grammy Award nominations. In 2007, his critically-acclaimed seventh album, Finding Forever, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and went on to earn a Grammy award.

His eighth album, Universal Mind Control, was released in 2008 and nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Rap Album. He is currently completing his upcoming album, The Believer, slated for release in 2011.

Whether inspiring audiences through music, movies, books or his foundation, Common continues to break new ground. As one of hip-hop’s most poetic lyricists as well as the genre’s most innovative and positive voices, he truly deserves to be heard.
