Monitor Headphone?

Any good monitor headphone to recommend?
I'm considering Sony MDR7506 or Sennheiser HD-280
Prefer closed-back

Who are the dealers and who sell them cheaper?

or do you all have any other recommendations?

live monitoring or studio? I don't like the sonys for live monitoring. My loud house speakers blast through the rather thin walls of the sonys. But in the studio, its very nice and comfortable.

get the sennheniser HD-280 pro..... i tried it before.... it is amazing, trust me u won't regret buying that....

as for the dealers.... u can try hung's but i think they sell stuff quite ex.... try to look ard sim lim... there is actually a few stores on the 1st story that deals of audio stuff

The sonys 7506 are the best in my opinion. The only draw back is that the low ends are not powerful enough therefore, when mixing, you tend to over boost the low end. Use the 7509 instead if budget is not a concern. that aside, the 7506 are very comfortable and totally transparent. As for the Sennheiser, it is a little coloured and does not give a true representation of what your mix / recording sound like. It is a little towards the flattering side.

Just my personal opinion and preference. Go try it out for yourself. HUng brothers in sim lim has both of those. However, I don't think they will allow trying. If you need to try the 7506, drop me a mail. Hope this helps!

Ok!! Saw your post and i was just intending to put some results (reviews) of a test i did with a number of headphones i have available on my arsenal.
These are the headphones i have:
1. Akg K44
2. Akg K66
3. JVC HA-D410
4. JVC HA-G33
5. Philips SBC HM300
6. Sony MDR 7506
7. Technics RP DJ 1210
8. Yamaha RH 3C
The prices all differ among the headphones, but i am still comparing them despite their value...
The results i have heard is just my personal opinion... and i am just comparing frequency flatness, i am not a comfort and design person..
1. Akg K44
Price roughly S$49
Output volume was quite soft on these, the lows and highs felt ok, but the mids were pretty diminished. The sonic image was ok...
2. Akg K66
Price roughly S$69
Same problem for Akg, output volume quite soft, Lows were quite muddy, with deficient mids, highs not very clear but the sonic image is quite ok
3. JVC HA D410
Price roughly S$45
Again like these low price headphones, output volume was quite soft, surprisingly the lows were good, but the mids were deficient, the highs were ok. The worst problem was the sonic image, which were very small and squeezed up.
4. JVC HA G33
Price roughly S$55
This had a volume problem, very soft, i had to turn up the volume higher, however the bass and highs were quite ok, the mids however felt loose. Ok sonic image..
5. Philips SBC HM300
Price (i don't know, someone gave to me!)
Volume was the worst on this one, super soft, i really had to turn up the volume much higher. Surprisingly when i did turn up, the lows and mids turn out pretty alrite with some lagging highs. Sonic image again ok!!
6. Sony MDR 7506
Price roughly S$200-S$300
A level higher than the rest. This pricey headphones was a league better, with good volume, even low, mid and highs, clear as well as a nice spread sonic image. But well, you are paying more anyhow..
7. Technics RP DJ 1210
Price roughly S$200-S$300
Supposedly a level higher than the rest as well, the output volume was ok but not significant. Lows were ok, highs are clear. But there was some deficiency in the mids. Sonic image quite nice. This was after all a DJ headphone, but i expected better bass!!
8. Yamaha RH 3C
Price roughly S$80
Output volume was ok, lows and mids turn out too boomy, highs not very clear. Sonic image was ok!!!

Besides Sony MDR7506 which was obviously the best for mixing, i personally pretty like the Philips (since i can push up volume on my headphones mixer), Akg K44 (good value!), JVC HA G33 (again push up volume!). Techhics i expected more from it since i paid so much more..
But well, you pay for what you get in most cases.....
