Hi guys,

looking to get into the recording foray once more.

Before taking a step into the fray and buying some stuff, I wanted to pick up some opinion from you guys..

Will be recording mostly electric stuff (both clean/gain), acoustic i will prolly line in from my pickup system (Taylor ES) but i might want to mic it up i guess.

Was looking at these three mics.

Shure SM57.

Any input?

Thanks!

been using the sm57 for my elec for the longest time now. off-axis or on, always satisfied. haven't tried the senns but understand that the e906 is a better bet than the previous e609. as for acoustics, normally use a condenser positioned off the sound-hole. eq to taste. cheers

I was also looking for a mic a while back and checked out some sound samples on the web. While the e609 sounded very much similar to the SM57, it does present a little more low end, and quite a bit of high extension. The highs, if you're not careful, can present some sibilance problems. I do find it too trebly for my liking.

The e906 is more versatile with the filter switch and higher sensitivity. I find that it sounds better (flat setting) compared to the e609 or SM57.

Well, I ended up with an AT2020 condenser. More general purpose, I think.
