R ryechua New member May 18, 2012 #22 i believe even if you use an xlr, it will be the same. it is a known occurrence with focusrite devices. when i use an SM57 (on a focusrite saffire), i would need to set the input gain to 8+ to get a -6dB signal http://www.gearslutz.com/board/so-m...saffire-pro-40-low-recording-level-issue.html when i use a condenser (with phantom power), i only need to set the gain to 3.
