There's a Malay Wedding going on at the void deck of my neighbouring block right now and I'm kinda intrigued by how these artistes choice of tone.I find that their solos are unique as compared to normal rock music solos.Their solos sounds a bit jazzy thou....

Anyone care to share what kinda tones and techniques these Malay artisite employ to give their guitar solos their unique sound?

i dont know much bout the guitar but i can tell u malay rock's influences..malay rock usually is slow rock ballads, influenced by scopions, deep purple, led zeppelin, i dunno how they get the tone tho..but i noe who their main influences are..

Malay Rock under the block....hehheh this has been happenning for so many years even since back in the late 60s i supposed. The only Gig that ppl get 2 hear n listen to bands that plays LIVE rock music. U cant get em in Nite Clubs so here's where u get a taste of em. Be it a good band or a lousy band, ppl at the particular wedding will just get to enjoy and till today its been ahppening like sum sort of tradition.....

The Abang2 play the guitar solo sure realli steam n with feelings.......and all the Minah2 or babes will melt to the Vocalist voice.....thats where love at 1st site realli happens to most ppl. hhehehhehehe

u guys should check out the dangdut music scene in Indonesia man. Those guitarist are cool. Heavy investments too. Roma Irama plays a PRS, some of the BACK UP guitarists play with a JEM777/555wh.o_O...what a great thing. Their tone and solos are heavily influenced by traditional music, the gendang and other traditional instruments. i believe, the malay rock scene started out that way too, and became heavier with the infusion of deep purple and bands of that era.

Hey guys,i grew up with the typical abang2 rock ,be it at kampong or block.Sure anywhere bring gitar one! They practice using kapok gitar but jamming sure come out their sounding, damn good ones.

No need gitar tab or music notes, it's all in the "FEEL". They always like to improvise much of their solos and will "gentel teros, goreng or gesek" like they always say in the true mat rock language."Rock Never Die!!!" Woohooooooo!! :supz:

The sound is rich, mellow and sorta hard to describe. Sometimes the guitar can even seem to be crying. That kind of longing, faraway feel.

"feel" is important in music. i think sometimes this is often overlooked. eh.. "loud" is not "feel", though it will probably make me "feel" stressed! :smt092
