Yes. strum behind the nut... Will not work for locking nuts though... and don't mute your strings when you do it.

this is the main reason why alot of ppl cant do it. i've got quite a lot of friends who keep asking me how matthew bellamy does it and they all say they cant. cos they mute the strings.

i tried on my LP. No screech? Maybe does not work on LPS?
And my guitar went out of tune after trying thisL

How hard did you strum? Maybe you'll need quite a bit of distortion because Matt Bellamy uses quite a lot of distortion.
