Can someone tell me how to practise the major scale...Unlike the pentatonic scales which have different patterns, the major scale does not have any. So how do u go about remembering the notes. I know the how the major scale works, just that i need to find an efficient way to remember the notes. Thanks

u can basically start with a C major scale that has no # in it. (0)
follow by G major scale which has a F# (1)
D major scale - F# & C# (2)
A major scale - F#, C# & G# (3)
E major scale - F#, C#, G# & D# (4)
B major scale - F#, C#, G#, D# & A# (5)
follow by F# major and C# major

For F major scale, it has a Bb..

hope something like dat helps..didnt list out everything though..write it down..and you can remember the notes better..but dont juz memorise the notes..use your ears and listen to them..no point memorising them without knowing hw they sounds like

cheers

Practice the scale from the lowest note on the neck to the highest in all positions. Work from '4 fret' positions and connect all of these together to cover the entire neck. Use arpeggios or chord shapes to move between them - this helps me.

Personally, I think you only need to learn the entire neck *once* and then, due to the transposing nature of the guitar (i.e. you can just move shapes up and down and be in different keys, this can save you a lot of time. So, you don't really need to learn 12 different keys - it should suffice to learn C all over the neck and simply transpose when you are required by moving all the shapes you know up or down to the correct root. This is a bit of an oversimplification, but it is worth thinking about.

eh i believe learning scales also has to incorporate memorising the fretboard.... something i STILL cannot achieve. anyone has an efficient way to do this??
