hey guys have you all seen the ads lately about Magneto guitars? How do you find them? There have 3 main models... please share if you do know anything about them!

Hey I thought I would post a short review on Magneto guitars. A disclaimer that I'm not in any way affiliated or benefiting by doing this writeup. I thought I should put some nice words from the service and product at Jermanium Guitars.

My favourite part was the fact that I could try the guitars at the comfort of my home and my own gears (stated on their website). This is a HUGE plus point because I get to hear exactly how the guitars sound using my own stuff. I tried two of them.

Sonnet
A super-strat inspired but still retain a more traditional look. I'm not a huge fan with SSH config but this one does pretty well for me. The humbucker is not over-powering in terms of volume output. The overall tone spectrum can cover from from classic rock to blues. I would describe the pickups as vintage hot. It has a flatter radius (11") than the traditional strats, very comfortable to play but the action is a tad too low, making bending a bit off (can be easily re-setup).

T-Wave
I loved this guitar. It resonates very very well. The bridge pickup sounds like how a tele should sound; the spank, snap and great with overdrive. The P90 adds some fatness for nice lead tone. The guitar went awesome with clean and delays. I love the harmonics and how well articulate it is. The action is low with no buzz or whatsoever making it play like butter. My only wish is to have this equipped with a humbucker (Lollar Regal). That's my personal ideal tele. Then again, the T-Wave is a very nice axe on its own.

It was a very pleasant experience (somewhat fresh) for me getting to try new guitars with my own gears. I see no reason why anyone should pass the opportunity to give these guitars a test run.

I played a prototype Magneto 3 years ago in France. I think it was the T-wave. They were a really new company and had the chance to meet some of the guys. I like how they stuck to relatively conventional shapes while adding a bit of their touches.

Playability wise was ok.. I'm sure it will be a lot better after 3 years. (Mainly because Prototypes get played a lot and demo-ed with). As namle mentioned, action a little low, but that's not a big deal, can be easily adjusted. What left an impression was the clean tones. Clean through the amp, tones were clear.. And nicely chimey..

Anyone interested should try them. I might, to see how much difference there is with the current production!

Oh you guys have to try it to believe it! I was so impressed with their newest model and I got one for myself! Here's a pic.THE VELVET.

The is a lot of rave about their T-wave, but this is is just heavenly.

They come in brown oil finish too, and this is the one i got, though the pic does do the finish much justice!

It really cuts through the mix with very focused mids and my sound guy just loves it. He usually has to cut the bass on my lespaul in the mix when the whole band comes in, but with the velvet, its simply plug and play. I dig the Lollar Imperials in it, cleans up really nicely and it is really crisp. Cleans on it just sound sound so articulate, and when u kick in some dirt, it roars! The crunch and the bass response is so tight- palm-muting chugs never sounded so good, you can hear every string. This is definitely built for the more rock orientated players.

It is quite a light guitar considering it is full mahogany so its easy on the shoulders especially when I use a thin strap. It definitely has more twang, the body is actually a tele carved top if you were to observe closely. Magneto describe it as being more hollow and SG inspired when compared to a LP as an example, extremely versatile i would say. The magic lies in the tone pot, it is so musical even when you turn it down, the sweep is so smooth. Since it has more highs than my lespaul, I would just turn down the tone a little for heavy riffage and when the time is up for the leads, i will flip it back on to cut through, no muddiness at all and the tome pot really just rolls off the high end, leaving the mids and bass frequencies untouched.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this baby, thought of selling off my duesy to get the T-wave. You dont really see many tele style guitars with p90s in them. If you guys are interested you should really ring them up. They will bring the guits to your doorstep to try out
