Ludwig or Gretsch i need your help!

Hey guys which is more practical in terms or pricing and sound wise.
Ludwig Accent Combo Jazz or power kit. OR the Gretsch Blackhawk OR the Catalina series?
And what differs between a Jazz kit and a normal kit?
Sorry newbie here..
Where can i get them and how much are they selling for ?
also do include what comes with the price.

Well the difference is sizes mostly and sound. You should choose your kit depending on what kind of music you want to play. If you're a metal bash drummer definitely don't get a jazz kit IMO.

Another thing to consider is your budget, and whether the kit is just for home and practice use. Most people don't have that much cash to throw around so you have to ask yourself how much you're willing to spend for a kit that most likely only you are going to hear. I'm getting a Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz...

My suggestion is go look up videos of the kits, compare prices and also convenience of getting parts and stuff. If they all are about the same and you don't care that much then just pick one that you like

i'm intending for home usage only though. Budget is probably ard 800 or so u guys think its possible for any of the kits?

okaye if u are gonna get em new u needa know that stands,cymbals pedals, throne MAY NOT be included. usually they aint. so is $800 inclusive of the cymbals and etc.?

Pardon me if it sounds dumb but i really dont know if is possible to get a whole complete kit at $800.
If not i can do with just a shell kit at $800 then i will save for second hand hardwares ? or is this the wrong way to do it.

My suggestion is you get a cheaper kit, and get better hardware that will last. I don't think you can get a gretsch kit even just the shells for $800 in singapore. May have to consider the other entry level kits from Tama, Pearl etc.

If you get good stands and throne etc and take good care of them, don't let them rust they can last you a lifetime. Don't need so expensive la, in fact for me I find the basic like say yamaha stands are good enough, just from my experience try to stay away from the brandless hardware cos I find they rust very easily and don't last. As you said your kit is only for practice, so no point spending so much if you don't have the extra cash. Get a basic kit that's decent and then as your musical style develops more in a few years time you can get a better kit that suits your style better.

For me - I will give myself more options here (try out other Brands too) - and not restrict myself to these Kits you have just mentioned.

If you are NEW - then dont get a Jazz Kit - get a Normal Standard 5pc Kit - which is practical and is good for Most Practice On Drumming.

Think carefully before you buy.

PS:- Getting a Resale Kit is also a very good Idea (save you money) when you dont really know what you like best - you will know what you really want when the times comes.
