Gist of it is that these people bribed or agree to bribe a Mediacorp exec in return for him picking them as winners in a lucky draw , each getting 1 year of free petrol. (worth 5k).

"Two of them, James Ong Eng Kong, 34, and Goh Soon Yong, 33, were each fined $6,000 while four others - Thomas Gwee Boon Wee, 33; Lim Boon Hwee, 32; Ng Sze Siong, 31; and Christine Yee Nuok Sze, 26 - had to pay fines of $5,000 each."

That's it ? Seriously? I thought we were very against corruption one.

we are also against bringing the courts into disrepute by criticizing their decisions.

oh no....it's giving me....cognitive dissonance.

A better title would be "Lucky draw winners fined. Did they get off too easy?"

The problem with doing that is you are making it look like indianstallion said something which he didn't. That's kind of dodgy.

Well soft , what is the better title is a matter of opinion rather than fact. And that rings true for fgl's post earlier. I think it's a bit high-handed to assume that your opinion somehow is better than ours, (considering it is our posts) and that it gives you the privilege to change it on a whim.

Maybe you should make it a rule that everyone should submit their post titles to you first before they consider posting anything, just so that they meet your opinion of a good title.

Are you saying we should never question court decisions? I am just voicing an opinion here and it's what's the point of a punishment if it's not really a deterrent?

I was attempting to make an ironic reference to another recent court outcome and the fate of some people who voiced criticism of that outcome.

indianstallion, every post/thread is moderated. What makes you think otherwise?

Moderate it if you want, just don't make it appear that I wrote something that I did not, that's grossly misleading. Anyway I already put a thread in suggestions category, let's not go more off topic than we already ah? :)

aiya lucky draw only.. -.-

Well I remember this 18 year old who got jailed 2 months for sharing music on IRC, I think it was last year. He was not getting any money for it, he was just letting people download from him, as misguided as it was.

Contrast that to this case where the people were purposely breaking the law to benefit themselves, and I find it hard to accept that justice was served. The punishment should be a deterrent otherwise why even bother handing out one.
