LTD guitars are the more affordable line of ESP.
I believe it's expensive because it's a signature model.

But low end LTD guitars are good investment for beginners who are looking to start out.
Higher end LTD guitars are good as well but paying a couple more hundreds to get the ESP versions are also a good choice.

a good guitar is one which appeals to the player after s/he tries it. others' opinion on it is really 50% of its true reputation... of course, we do take cues from others who've had experiences with that particular model which we are interested in but let it not be the final say.
