Hello all,
I would like some feedback on ltd guitars(now made in China).I have an Ibanez and would like to own a ltd.Any info will be appreciated.(There are not much info on Ltd here. Why?)Thanks

Yoha Aloha!

Speaking of LTD guitars, I own a ESP LTD EX-50.My first guitar. Also made in China.Lets see my guitar is neck heavy, good for playing metal.Compared to epiphone korina explorer its abit brighter.Neck heavy.Might wanna consider on buying leather straps.Overall i love this guitar its finish is great.(mines in silver) :D

ltd viper 50 is my first guitar . really good and versatile beginner to intemediate guitar. yeah made in china. brand new 380.

Its really neat and tidy , the wiring soldering all very neat . Got paint shielding if im not wrong . Sound wise also not bad . Good for anything from rock n roll to metal , cleans not so sweet

The finishing is also very good quality , the frets are very even so sliding is not a problem at all.

The only downsides are the heavy neck , if you wanna play standing up the guitar kinda tilt downwards and the headstock kinda ugly . The ltd logo quite cheapo looking , juz my opinion . But those pointy headstocks like jackson styled ones looks very nice.

I got a new guitar but cant bear to sell this away :D

^ yea, sucks to sell away your first guitar.

I don't own any LTD guitars but I've been eyeing for a few. and from what I see, read, hear, they sound friggin awesome. an LTD V-200 is my dream guitar . haha

LTDs are good if you're looking for a good metal guitar at a lower price range. Quality wise, I honestly can't say anything here, because its not where the origin of the guitar that makes it good or not. Some China guitars are good...

Anyway, main difference I noticed between LTD and Ibanez is the neck. LTD has a more... standard feeling neck, closer to Washburn, Jackson, etc... Unlike the thinner necks of the Ibanezes. Another thing is, if you're going for floating tremolos, Ibanez seems to do them better.

i deem the Series-50 LTD models to be value-for-$$ instruments when it comes to owning an affordable guitar. thusfar, the various incarnations of this series have been very promising in terms of QC & tone. i don't see it as an exclusive, metal-type-tone, instruments, despite their inherent reputation as such...

If you're talking about low-end Ibanez tremolos.. It doesn't apply. I hardtailed my Ibanez's bridge for a reason, as well as personal preference. Now it's perfect. I find that LTDs are very well-made, though for the specs, they tend to be a bit overpriced. But if you look beyond the specs, play them and inspect them, it's hard to fault them. I played a very impressive VP-50 and right now I wish I owned it!

I agree :) I think specs dun really go as far as workmanship in terms of playability and performance.

For instance a neck thru guitar would seem to be more playable then a bolt on neck, but if the frets are not leveled or properly done it would be much harder to slide around and stuff.

I own an LTD EX-50 too, very very well built. Yeap, heavy neck, but playability wise, I'd choose my LTD over my bandmates' Ibanez or my own Yamaha anytime.

Stock pups are quite ok, quite clear even on distortion, but thinking of changing to DiMarzio X2N for bridge and D Activator for neck, both in pink. :D

Just changed the strings to pink strings, so now only left with pink pups, hardware and knobs. Black/Pink explorer, Alexi Laiho style!

All in all, my new favourite guitar. Till I get a higher end LTD or maybe even an ESP, my LTD EX-50 will be my main guitar, then followed by my 2 Yamahas.

Hello all,
I would like some feedback on ltd guitars(now made in China).I have an Ibanez and would like to own a ltd.Any info will be appreciated.(There are not much info on Ltd here. Why?)Thanks

Some quick info for you, the ones made in China are the lower ends LTD like the 50s and 100s, i'm not to sure about 200s and 300s... But I'm pretty confident that the 400s and 1000s are made in Korea or Indonesia... Why there are not much info for LTD here? The main shop don't custom ship LTD guitars for you... That is if for example you want an LTD M-300FM, but it is out of stock... Davis won't ship in one for you. There are other models out there that might be better and cost less cheaper than LTDs. In other words, ESP, LTD are overpriced... That is what I believe.

On China made LTD guitars, yes, some may say its not that bad. But I used to own an EC-50. It totally suck shit. No offence to anyone, anything. I'm stating from an owner's view(feedback) the guitar has no sustain...many could say of course laaaa, bolt-on mahhh, I have played bolt-on guitars and it still sounds better, with more sustain, richer tone. I would recommend you to get a higher LTD guitar like the 400s and 1000s, but if you can save a little more, get an ESP. The workman ship can differ from the series of LTD guitars.... Yes, it is cheap...But it is not worth to spend your buck on it. I hope this helps you! :D

the context of this over-pricing is...? perhaps we can provide some alternative price references to help those of us in need
